My 2TB Firecuda crashed after about 12 hours of use. 10 hours of it was down loading. All gone. The short time I had it I did notice a difference in speed. Hopefully the second one lasts longer.
MrBrian did u get it from Newegg? I got one 2 and once I downloaded 4 or 5 digital game s it started beeping and ps4 wouldn't load saying c ass nt access memory. just curious may be a bad batch
No. I got it from Microcenter. When I returned it the guy said it wasn't the first one to go bad like that. I probably was a bad batch. It was like it over heated. The PlayStation seemed hotter then normal.
Had no idea seagate had a 2.5 version of the Firecuda. I upgraded my 2013 ps4 with the Data Bank using a 3.5 SSHD Firecuda, it was a mess because I had to reformatted on my PC before I installed the PlayStation OS. I have no regret upgrading but I will get the PRO sometime in the future.
i bought a ps4 slim before this pro was launched and i don't regret buying it as its value for money but i would definitely replace my 500 gb HDD with 1 or 2 tb sshd soon .
Did anybodies firecuda hard drive making a constant clicking noise when they play it in their ps4, because I bought a new firecuda drive, and it started to make clicking noise and it won't stop. Is that normal?
I got a new one from Newegg yesterday and it didn't work for me. When I connected it, the motherboard started making beeping sounds and I had trouble putting the PS4 Pro to Safe mode. When in safe mode, I got an error when I started re-installing the software : 'Cannot access the storage device'. I unscrewed it and put it back again several times but no luck. Maybe the HDD was bricked.
let's hear back from ya after the 48 hr mark. I want to get mine replaced too but I'm worried it will fail if not immediately in the near future. I had almost 1 tb worth of games downloaded onto my firecude drive after the install and it's all gone! man this is a pain in the ass if the hdd don't hold up..

I loaded a ton of games, I have about 150GB left on the Pro's 1T HDD, I'll have to make this upgrade at some point, the UI is amazingly fast compared to the standard PS4 as it is. How much is the new hard drive bud?
justin halen I promise you it's not. look at there website. look at the specs when pulling it up on any retailer. hell, just Google 2.5 inch firecuda rpm and it'll show you. maybe next time before calling someone a dumb ass, make sure your making a valid point first. I was just trying to help you.
Did you setup ps4 prior to swapping hard drive? I'm trying to put this exact sshd into my pro and it is telling me it cannot update system from flash drive. I've followed every step but I didn't see the drop menu where you selected initialize or install system software.
I was going to put one of this in my original ps4 but I am not sure if this is the sshd I should use. Any suggestions or tips to helps me choose a better sshd. Also I will be using the Nokia Data Bank any information would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.
same here. and the basic hard drive end of it is 5400 rpms, not 7200 like he said. the firecuda will cache the most frequently used programs or games after the fourth or fifth time you use them to load them faster. This is where the hybrid shines. the ssd part of the hard drive only caches the programs used most, thus speeding up loading times and and overall performance.
Those Drives very hard to get at this moment I Ordered One Almost a month ago and I am still waiting I Already contacted Seagate and The Local Disturbers To see what is going on And it seems like they have millions in back order with only hundreds arriving each week I Also Noticed that prices are currently going up because of the high demand
Stupid Sony and their cheap choices and horribly difficult default internal hard drive selections.I went through the same issue with the slimmer Seagate SSHD 2TB drive install with the hard drive housing unit the PS4 Pro uses. I'm a IT professional in my career and it took my a good half hour messing with and aligning the slimmer SSHD 2TB drive to get it to hold and screw in right with the PS4 Pro hard drive housing unit.
Can you change the hard drive of the PS4 right out of the box or does it still need the files to be backed up on an external drive before switching hard drives?
Julian Angelo Garcia I know I'm 4 months late but yes you can in fact I would the only thing you would need is the firm update from the PlayStation website.
Do not buy sshd. It's pointless. The ssd part is very small and games won't load faster due to it. PlayStation plays games different than pic and won't affect it much. Yes sshd is faster but not by much. Save yourself the pain and get a 2tb ssd.
So does the pro run faster or smoother than the PS4? My gen2 is slow as hell and won't even scroll the menus smoothly. Load times are slllooooooowwww. How's graphics compared? I'm on a 1080 right now so I don't expect 4K but performance upgrades would be nice. I talked to one guy who claimed BF1 online ran smoother with less frame drop.
whatfreedom7 I used to own a day 1 PS4 and after 3 years the menus would lag. It would take a while to get to menus from games and it would get super loud when playing games. Upgraded and the menus are nice and smooth. The developers have to update the games for them to take advantage of the beefed up hardware and right now BF1 is not one of them so your friend is lying lol. Just ordered a 2tb hybrid drive since I have like 200gb left So I'm sure it will be even smoother
Richie Landeros now I can say the x box s I bought recently runs BF1 online smoother it seems to lag less too. I don't really see how the S could run it smooth and the pro not but idk. Since my first post I put a 2tb hybrid firecuda in my PS4. It did speed up probably about several seconds on load times in BF1. I didn't notice any improvements game wise.
whatfreedom7 you also do have to keep in mind a new console straight out of the box will always run smoother then one you've been using for years. Since the new one won't have anything extra saved on it but games and save data. My brother bought a slim and it's the same exact specs as the normal one just shrunken down a little and even that one runs better then my old PS4.
richie i call bs as long as its maintained my launch ps4 will do what the slim does. now comparing it to the pro is pointless because of boost mode. it overclocks the cpu and gpu to what the pro runs at for its pro patched games but without half the gpu like with normal ps4 mode its been proven that the pro will outperform the ps4 on titles that wont get a pro patch fps for fps
Stoney Days I can care less if you c all bullshit. I'm just letting the person know from what I experienced on my own. Not what I read in the internet or what someone else told me
Gaby Kos to increase speed you can use an ssd but they are expensive af for a Normal budget use an sshd . if i helped you then can you please subscribe my channel .
