The matte black looks much better, not that the original white was bad. It should also hide scratches better. Looking forward to seeing the range test, and whether the app correctly reports battery charge.

If you have trouble with the pads falling off go buy some rubber cement. It is like liquid rubber in a glass bottle. You brush it on both parts you want to stick together. Let it set for about 20 min. then put the pieces together. I have used it to glue soles on shoes and never had them come loose. Remember to let it set up before you put them together.

Nice upgrade. Too bad you basically throw away the old batteries. I naively thought the upgrade just added some additional batteries. Now I understand why people have said it's not cost effective to upgrade the L to the XL. My side pads lost a little stickiness. Instead of buying new pads, just apply some double-sided tape.

I didn't mention in video because it was still a little uncertain in March when I shot this, the price is $800 and you send in your old 18L pack to Ewheels so the old pack isn't wasted, goes into their parts stock I suppose.

@@Duf Wow, that is a really good price. I guess only because he's taking the old battery back. He's probably hoping that too many people don't opt for the upgrade because he'll run out of uses for the old battery packs. It has to be extremely rare that a battery pack fails.

Did u ever put adhesive on the new batteries? The new 18XL's have the battery sealed in with adhesive on the back so it sticks to the inner shell.

Nope never used new double sided tape, never had a problem.

Selling an old XL battery as a new ? these batteries do wear out . However, good luck finding replacements. I see a huge market for custom battery makers on the horizon

I checked the links and didn’t see the upgrade on ewheels sight. I remember reading about this on the forums and the rumor was$800 with you returning your original batteries. I can’t figure out why I am interested in it at all as my 18l does everything I want it to now, but such is life.

$1200 isn’t worth upgrading (hope not) but if it is $800, I think I may want to upgrade too!

As mentioned on the other video, Dualsport is correct, $800 with trading in your old pack. Still not cheap but turns the L into a legit long range cruiser.
