I have a question for you I am reupholstering my bedroom chairs with velvet material all 4 legs are corners although the front legs are very thick 3" approx. so my issue is that I cant seem to get the material all to one side without it being all crocked. Should the front legs have a different type of cut other than straight? Thanks so much

Hey Amy, ANOTHER awesome video. Your technique for pulling the sides taught toward the corners is great information as well as restapling where you removed the right positioning staples. Could you give some info during one of your vids regarding the table you work on. Top dimensions and especially height. Is it all just personal preference or are there suggested heights for particular tasks? Thanks!
@ArtisanUpholsteryStudio
@ArtisanUpholsteryStudio 3 года назад
It’s mostly personal preference, but you can check out my video on setting up a workshop...I talk a bit about it there. Otherwise, yes, I’ll make a video about it!

Your videos are soooo educational. You are inspiring me to take up another new skill. I’ve picked up a pair of Louis XVI chairs that were poorly upholstered. Staples breaking apart when trying to remove. What gauge or length of staple should be used to reupholster this piece? What gauge/type of Pneumatic stale gun do you recommend?

@ArtisanUpholsteryStudio

3/8” x 3/8” 22 gauge is the typical upholstery staple. 1/2” long and 1/4” long can be useful, but not necessary. A brad nailer is also a great tool to have.
