NASCAR is full of kooky characters. Some you can't miss while others you have to go out of your way to find. With Clint Bowyer though, you couldn't help but notice him because he was smack dab in the middle of pretty much every major event in NASCAR history for the past 15 years. So who exactly is the zany little character from Kansas? Well, let's find out.

To be fair, every so often an instigator of crashes falls victim to ones where they had nothing to do with them. Take one of the many occasions Dale Earnhardt failed to win the Daytona 500, specifically 1992. An accident ahead of him left him with nowhere to go, other than the infield grass, despite his reputation for wrecking other drivers, he was an innocent victim
@RailsofForney
@RailsofForney 8 месяцев назад
I don’t care for Logano, he’s just a dirty driver. It really bothers fans and other drivers alike. Dale Jr. is different since “he owns it in a cool way” but Logano still gives that vibe of one who doesn’t care; uses cheap tactics.

I don’t know if someone already commented this, but the points penalty for the MWR cars after spingate didn’t affect Clint’s final points standing. In fact, it essentially did nothing to him. I was shy kid, and he noticed when I sheepishly brought up my diecast to the signing table. I don't remember exactly what he said, but it was some kind of pick-me-up message that made me smile. Sorta like that Mean Joe Green Coca Cola commercial. I was definitely a fan after that. I was also there on the frontstretch for the 500 in 2007, and saw him sliding across the line on his roof. Clint Bowyer: A great NASCAR Driver that somehow ends up at the wrong place, at the wrong time. The 3-Wide Wreck at Martinsville was proof of that. He got bumped during the restart & he chose to go on the inside to avoid rear-ending Jeff Gordon, but *3 Wide, into Turn 1, at Martinsville,* we had a hunch that it wouldn't end well at that point. By the end of the day, Clint bared most of the brunt of the outrage, but Jeff forgave him.

Amazing video! Clint is always going to be memorable to me, the dude doesn't deserve any of the hate, got caught up in a lot of bs through his career, but a genuine character like him is something NASCAR desperately needs. I love him in the booth, I feel bad that they are having him play into the goon side more than the insight he does have. Will always be one of my favorite guys in the sport

Small correction, Jack Daniels stayed on in 2009, Casey Mears drove the 07 for reasons I don’t understand while Clint got moved to the Cheerios 33. Mears is another one who deserves a video, one of the biggest underachievers in nascar history

Thank-you, even though Nascar has fallen off my radar these last 15 years, the stories of the characters involved are always entertaining, especially when it's one of those drivers I only ever knew as a name and a number.

When I saw the 07 Jack Daniels car, at first I thought "why do they have an upside down number 2 next to a zero?" At first I thought it was a hilariously different way to show 02, but in fact it was related to the Old Number 7 brand as S1ap said. I just thought I would provide a quick laugh at my expense, lol

Thank you so much for all the hard work & time that you invest in the making of your NASCAR videos. I stand by the fact that yours are some of the best you can find. Whenever I get a notification for a new video you just posted, I always stop whatever I'm doing to watch it. So thank you, again, for the few minutes of enjoyment that ur videos give me anytime I watch them...

Wow. Sir, you are exceeding all expectations with every video of yours I watch. Thank you!! Over the last decade, I have become an F1 fan, Moto gp fan, Indycar fan, and now a sports car (imsa) fan....NASCAR is my last frontier of motorsports fandom. I only have so much time in the day...but the reverence in which you talk about the sport in your videos makes me more and more eager to really dive into it sooner rather than later. Again...thank you for what you do.

This is an amazing channel. This is the best racing history I have come across and your perspectives have helped rekindle my love of racing. When I was a kid, it was the local short track in western Oregon on Saturday nights, and then waking up and watching the Winston cup race on this new thing called cable tv with Dad I doubt I’ll ever find interest in the shit show that has become NASCAR, but I think I’ve rediscovered my love of local short track racing. Thanks S1ap. This old guy appreciates it 👍🏻

Another great video Slap!! I always loved Bowyers attitude, like when he had a DNF for whatever reason you might just see him up in the grandstands partying with the fans... Don't get much more cool than that... And I definitely enjoy watchin him in the booth, it's like he was just built for that in my eyes... Thanks Slap I needed a good watch this evenin...

Great video! I was a kid who grew up in Kansas, and became a fan of NASCAR in 2005. Naturally I became a huge fan of Bowyer. I remember all these great moments over several years. I have awesome memories from Lakeside speedway, and dirt racing in KS. Clint’s career was a product of the absolute fervor that was grassroots racing in the Kansas City area during the early 2000s. Lakeside Speedway & I-70 we’re developing lots of great talent back then. And then they built the Kansas Speedway around that time. Clint was one of many that got starts in ARCA, but he made the most of it. Sponsors were also putting money into racing in the local area back then. It was a great time, and I’m glad I got to see “glory days” of local racing in KC. Unfortunately the days of being a local talent in the midwest, getting your shot, and going to the big leagues are long gone.

One thing I remember from the 2007 Daytona 500 was my dad joking about how they must've known he would flip so they painted the number 20 upside down on the car. It's one of the last memories I have from my dad cause he was on leave from Iraq at the time and would pass just a month and a half later

I loved that Va-11 Hall-A soundtrack at the background. It really fitted Clint's style XD Also. The best part: Clint Bowyer accidentally always found himself in the spotlight, never meaning to. In the end, he realized that if he did it of his own free will, it would become the best, and it ended up being the best decision of his life. He ended up becoming two things: a good driver and a great entertainer.

Clint Bowyer was the defining hero of my high school years, as somebody who didn't regularly watch the sport until 2005, I came in with a pretty clean slate and found myself pulling for the second place guy - always the underdog. I pulled for him throughout his rookie year, and his performance as a rookie was better than you'd think - constant top 10 runs marred by bad luck. But the promise of watching your favorite driver go out and potentially win races was an escape I really needed from the family turmoil in my teens and fear of my own imminent realization that I was gay. Excellent retrospective. Editing was top notch. You made me, the founder of 10 To Go, very proud.

Clint Bowyer may not have the Championship trophies for the Hall of Fame, but he *definitely* has a HOF-worthy highlight reel. And you need characters like that in any sport. Easily a top-tier driver, with multiple race wins under his belt, could've easily had a Cup championship to his name had just a few things swung in his favour at the right time, but was also a big character with tonnes of charisma and a plethora of memorable moments in his career retrospectives - for better and for worse. And every sport, every racing series, needs characters exactly like Clint. Hard chargers, fan favourites, guys who lit up the track both on and off it. Kinda like a Daniel Ricciardo in Formula One, I guess.
