I always liked the theory that Urabrask wanted freedom for all because he believed that if compleation was the right thing for everything, then all would eventually come to accept it of their own free will, and forcing it upon other planes was a sign that you lacked faith in compleation to begin with.
"The colour of emotion, thus empathy" THIS! Red is, perhaps even to a greater extent than Black, the most misunderstood colour in MtG. Red is almost always associated with aggression, anger, and hostility, i.e. always negative emotions and relationships. Compassion, love, and amity seem to be reserved for White, but they should in lore be mostly grounded in commitment and an aim for harmony and uniformism, rather than pure personal desire. I wish we could more often see red cards displaying a greater range of emotion, even despite the design space restrictions of Red's limited array of mechanics and MtG being a competition-based game
Well each colour has his pros and cons. White is union and support while their extreme is totalitarism and unquestioble devotion. Red is spontaneity, creativity and freedom with the extreme being fury and destruction. I think the praetors are the bad extremes of the colours. Perhaps Urabrask just wanted to be free from the dominion of the others just because he already knew that Elesh Norn was going to go nuts and subyugated everything.
I remember hearing Red is best defined as passion, and I think that both perfectly explains it and is also where people get confused. It's not just passionate anger, or passion in the form of fighting, it's just about passionate emotions that can be anywhere on the emotional spectrum, and Urabrask shows that in such a fascinating way.
I still think black is more misunderstood. There are absolutely zero mono black heroes in magic. Like you have Soron and Liliana and Davriel but they're all anti-heroic and/or in need of redemption. There's elements to Black that aren't all doom and gloom.
I wanted to see what Urabrasi would do if he wasn't fighting with the other Preators because they don't really delve until what his idea of compleation is. He's not so much good as just a different version of phyrexia.
My main DM actually had a glistening oil like material in multiple of his games he runs. It's both the most terrifying thing we run into, but also the most exhilarating.
They represent corruptions of the color pie. Elesh Norn is white and gives an anthem effect with her original card, but gives -2/-2 to opponents things, something that is normally reserved for black. Jin-Gitaxias is blue and draws you cards, but forces opponents to discard cards, again something normally found in black. Urabrask is red and gives your things haste, but he makes your opponents creastures enter tapped, which is normally in white. Vorinclex makes lands tap for extra mana, which is a green thing, but he makes opponents lands not untap after being tapped which while it is sometimes in green, its more of a blue thing. Sheoldred is kinda the exception to this rule since she brings things back from the graveyard, which is black, and makes opponents sacrifice creatures, which is also black. I believe though, since this is an every turn thing its more like stax meaning its more blue or white.
@@sablesalt Repeatable saccing is seen outside of black. As I said, its similar to Stax which is usually seen as more of a white or blue mechanic. Also forcing people to sac is also a green effect.
