Wet roads, snow piles and very low pay deliveries. That pretty much describes these video, but a bad delivery day can still be a great day to skate!

5:25 dang, I love watching confident skaters! If I lived in a city I'd definitely consider doing some rollerblade deliveries as fun side thing to get some exercise. 5:47 oooh I can almost hear the sound of the wheels and bearings. Going fast is so fun!

@@Meowth_HMC I'm 29 (ouch, makes me feel old to say that) and I've skated for about 10 years now. Getting into skating was the best decision I ever made. Some of my favourite memories have been exploring various towns and cities on skates. You can find some awesome little back alleys and silky smooth concrete bike paths. I'm 6ft and 105kg so if I can confidently skate without being awkward or falling over or bowling people over in the street (and having started skating when I was 20-ish, not a kid) I reckon anyone can do it. Some specific tips for skating on paths: Learn to roll with one foot in front of the other (not like directly in a line, but one foot forward and one back). In that position you can put a lot of force into your front leg and brute-force your way through almost anything (it's how I roll through rough gravel, those bumps for blind people, even thick grass). Your weight should be on your back leg, but your front leg braced and ready to hold you in case you hit stuff that slows you more than expected. Obviously I don't always skate like that, only when I see something unpleasant coming up, but it's a very powerful skill to know. When rolling cracks and sticks, again one foot forward and one back makes it easier/safer, but if you can't do that, at least try to lift your toes so the weight isn't on the front of your skates. Counterintuitively, I tend to also stand taller and shift my weight backwards so that if something catches I have more time to catch myself before I faceplant (which I've done once while rolling only on tip-toes into a crack I didn't pay attention to; it wasn't exactly fun but I walked away with only a bruised chin). You can also "deweight" your feet momentarily (not quite jumping, but taking the weight off your feet for a split second before you have to catch yourself again). That makes cracks and bumps less likely to catch you. As for stopping, the T-brake is the easiest (not sure if that's the proper name though). Just drag one foot sideways behind the you (if you're new, do this carefully to start with - it can make you start to twist around). It's pretty straightforward but I totally understand it's probably scary. For medium speeds I have no trouble but for very high speeds (like rolling down a steep hill) I sometimes find it a bit... let's say... _thrilling_... trying to T-brake. T-braking works at any speed, but the faster you go the more precise you have to be with your weight shifts to keep it from trying to turn you. My brother can do power slides to stop but I've never learned. I just try not to let my speed get to the point where if something leapt out in front of me I wouldn't be able to stop. Don't get me wrong, I go very fast sometimes, but I try to ensure good visiblity. It's the same principle as any vehicle: don't let your braking distance outrun your visibility. One thing you can do once you're very confident is roll grass at the side of the footpath to slow down. You need to be extremely careful, especially if you're going fast, but rolling onto the grass is often a very fast way to slow down (unless it's summer and the grass is dry and the dirt hard-packed - I'm Australian, btw lol). Obviously it takes a lot of strength in your front leg to be sure you're not going to catch something hidden and faceplant but it works better than you'd think. This isn't something I'd recommend to most people, though, because so much of it is out of your control. These days I prefer to just burn through a bit more wheel and T-brake aggressively. For turning, you literally just tilt over. Let your ankles tilt over, lean more on one skate than the other and look where you want to go. You can tilt a loooong way before the skates will lose grip on a dry surface, and if you go too far I find they tend not to let go all at once but just progressively start sliding sideways while you stay upright. But it sounds like you're pretty new and would be terrified going even half that far, so I wouldn't worry lol. Anyway that's a page of random thoughts. Hopefully some of it is helpful. Also, be careful of wet leaves. I've never skated on anything so slippery as wet leaves. Lol.

This dude executed a power slide on a wet surface! Jumped over snow from sidewalks to streets. Love the background music. Did you said 15 inches of snow? Holy shit man… That is pretty crazy. You skated on the street shared with cars on a car lane. In Philly, we have these bike/skating lanes on some streets and that’s the only time I feel comfortable skating long period in these lanes. Excellent skills man ❤

Awesome video, question: how did you get such a good Mohawk stretch? I have trouble getting my heels to touch like yours
@AlexRamos-Bliss
@AlexRamos-Bliss 2 месяца назад
For the Mohawk I just started to use it as a transition move, and when I tried to stay on it at first it would automatically just turn me backwards! But the more I tried, the longer I was able to stay in it. Until eventually it was like my body got used to the foot placement and I was able to stay in it for as long as I wanted! After that I started integrating more speed to be able to control better! And I'm currently working on mastering the other direction!...Very slow progress! Thanks for always stopping by and leaving great comments! 🙏

@@AlexRamos-Bliss I've skated for 10 years and almost never worn a helmet. As I get older I'm starting to realise how dumb that is, so I plan to start wearing one. I know how unlikely it is to hit your head while skating but if you do it will probably be very bad. So this is as much to myself as to you: wear a helmet!

@@AlexRamos-BlissI have to admit, that I am such a horrible hypocrite and did not realize the extent of it until your comment. I ride inline skates to a quadroller sport, and have it all in a backpack. Helmet included. When it rains I wear a hat instead of a helmet and tonight I didn't wear a helmet despite having it packed and on my back for the sport. Big ree. The solution would be for me to find a helmet as convenient as a hat.
