For an urban kit, I would add a four way sillcock key to access exterior building spigots for water.
@WastelandSeven

One thing I'd suggest is a Stanley saw. Don't remember the exact name but, it uses reciprocating saw and jig saw blades. Much more versatile than any other saw on the market. And really light.
@jaybarr3307
@jaybarr3307 7 лет назад
Nice kit. Suggestions since you requested. Since it's an urban kit, I'd ditch the saw and any survival items related to fishing, etc. I suspect over redundancy and unneeded items (for urban) in the survival kit box. Would definitely add more food, a beenie cap, maybe even ditch a portion of the fire starting stuff as you have a lot of redundancy there. Don't recall seeing a more legit multitool or SAK, would add one, and definitely a pair of work gloves and some cordage, unless there's enough in the survival kit box. Oh, you seem very tied to the ability to recharge things. I'd prefer to see battery standardization to a common size and switch out the power bank for a solar rechargable one. The small crow bar is a smart addition to an urban kit.

Not too sure of other countries but i would recommend an old fashion draw string bag or use darker colors and if needed then add reflectors. In urban areas their exist gangs and the colors you choose just might be their own or a rival. Gangs will be around in SHTF situation because they already live and act like the S

Just a suggestion, don't have so much orange stuff try to blend in have a few signal things, but all that orange camp stuff is going to attract alot of attention and not always good attention, just a tip but try to stick to grayman colours. Good video though, keep up the great work :).

I would add a solar charger to the kit as quite a few of the items require usb to recharge.

The kit is good but you have a problem with all those things that are loaded by USB when there is no power. I suggest you to get them with batteries. Greets from Germany.

10* Looks good. Now to hike with it for 20 miles, and see how it travels - and you too.
@BudgetBugout
@BudgetBugout 7 лет назад
Good point but 20 miles in one go would be way too much to travel -- especially uneven terrain. 10-15 miles tops for the average hiking person, once you go over that things get dicey for your feet especially if your body isn't used to rucking. I've been wearing it to work for the past few weeks with no issue though (usually attached to my Rush 72). At less than 20 lbs it is 10% of my body weight, I admit that the strap pulls on the shoulder after a bit but this strap can switch shoulders so it can be balanced out. :)
@johnlord8337
@johnlord8337 7 лет назад
Guess us tough little Marines and our 20+ lb rucks and 20 mile hike at Camp San Onofre and Pendleton was just taking a hike for us. My reason for my little red wagon and can pull bigger weight, less fatigue. Otherwise, my MYOg distributed carry system across BDU-like pockets and trouser pockets (some 32) on shoulders, chest, waist, front/side arms, front/side/back legs. Carry on body all small and lightweight items, halved weight per leg step (energy savings) less fatigue. Most weight on legs, versus total weight on shoulders and spine. Use ruck only for carrying big items (sleeping bag, tarp, cook kit), barely 8-10 # max in a winter carry, 4-5 # spring/summer carry.
@BudgetBugout
@BudgetBugout 7 лет назад
"10-15 miles tops for the average hiking person" didn't include Marines. :)
@BudgetBugout

And the point remains, no reason for the average person to do it. :)

SHTF and Mother Nature disaster won't care whether you can do or not do mileage or carry - or not. When you gotta do what you gotta do, then doing is a must, not a decision.

Use your bike for load carrying. The NVA used them in Viet Nam and strapped on 200lbs or so of munitions onto the things. Then pushed them over the Ho Chi Mein trail to South Vietnam. They were nicknamed "mules"

From a former homeless person. You are carrying a lot of heavy worthless junk. 1 fixed blade and a multi-tool, a flashlight and headlamp with extra batteries. Rechargeable stuff is useless if you can't charge it. A sillcock key would be far more useful in a city. Those water filters can't filter out chemical contaminates. Warm clothes and a small dark colored tent would be much more useful. A real blanket or light weight sleeping bag is better than a space blanket. The sleeping pad is fine, but cardboard and newspapers work and are easy to find. Carry food! Sure it's not super important to survive but if you aren't used to going hungry it will cause you no end of problems just try going two days without food and see how good your decisions are. Daltrex bars don't count, they aren't filling. At the very least carry ramen noodles and some energy bars. The saw isn't a bad idea but in a shtf situation you want to be as low key as possible. The esbit stove is good but you'll need more fuel tabs. On the street you know who belongs there and who doesn't. Carry at least one pack of smokes and maybe a small bottle of cheap booze. Getting in good with a homeless person or two would help you. Everyone seems to think the woods in their city would be a great place to stay. It's not because everyone thinks that. Roof tops are best, almost no one goes there and the vents give off heat. Most have a sheltered area as well.

Dino Hunter34555 going to the woods mountains not the best idea. I live in bfe. I am a avid hunter. Counting on hunting to servive should not be the best option. Their are lots of times you can walk all day you dont see anything not even a squirl. And some days you dont see an animals for days weeks. Plus you got to know wear animals are at what time of day and wear they are in difrent weather conditions an lots of other variables. I would stick to scavenging like in areas like urban but not city areas first.

If you paid attention you’d know he clearly knows what he’s talking about as he volunteers with disaster rescue. You are right that all the gear in the world means nothing without experience though.

the banana bag is a bad idea considering the bag your building is for a urban environment. gang members which will get together in shtf situations , would probably think your affiliated with the bloods (because your is red and white, both are blood colors) bloods are all over America either it's a stem or it's a official they are everywhere trust me I live in Brooklyn and I been to allot of different areas. my suggestion would be make it from plain black material or just buy a fold up one that meant for the situation your prepping for. just a suggestion considering this is for urban survival. great video by the way
@mikel9567
@mikel9567 7 лет назад
The bloods or other street gangs are not going to be an issue in a SHTF situation. They won't focus on the "banana bag". The bigger threat is going to be people who have not prepared and will take what they need by force if necessary. That is why you carry an item to defend yourself.
@mrdoo_doo6547
@mrdoo_doo6547 7 лет назад
Mike L Gangs will be the worst in NYC cuz that's where I live and yo have a color as red as a bandana is a very bad idea. I can't walk around doing whatever I want in NYC cuz I lived here all my life and I know everyone that's a somebody but there ain't no such thing as stopping a gang repping unless you have a squad behind you. but like I commented before in a urban survival situation, red is still not a good idea

@mrdoo_doo6547 7 лет назад
Mike L no color is best such as black and no tears on the flag
@mikel9567
@mikel9567 7 лет назад
Gangs won't be the big problem. In a SHTF situation they won't be concerned about territory. It also depends on what type of disaster occurs. If it is wide scale then they will be too concerned with survival to worry about colors. You are actually more of a target if you deck yourself out in tactical clothes and packs like a walking 5.11 display. Your best bet is to blend in with your surroundings. I would have no problem with a red bandanna in NYC or anywhere else. Quite frankly if your concern is the color of your bandanna than you are using in your survival kit then you got your priorities backwards.

Maybe it looks that way but it's a pretty small backpack and it also weighs less than 20lbs (10% body weight). What do you think about the items? Do you have suggested changes?

Ny Preppy .....and how many cutting tools? There are some much better items to add over having so many knives and flashlights. Aside from that, just dump the additional weight.
