why almost all videos i watch on "medicine" confuse starvation and fasting. Are there that many people STARVING in the US? In Europe, thanks to the european union, poverty is rampant, but not yet starvation. I don't know anyone starving... I know a lot of people fasting.
Maybe he is referring to wasting, catabolism, aging or more severely cachexia which is the reason 40% of cancer patients die. Like you are getting food in but the body is not absorbing it thus you never have enough and break down and down regulate. Chronic infections and healing from trauma can also cause wasting
@@wplants9793 this is good information, but in any video in French, there will be jeûne (fasting) but in almost all US or UK videos, starvation = fasting. Gosh, last year i fasted altogether for 50 days, and still alive.
By definition, starvation is suffering or death. I agree, fasting and starvation are not interchangeable in my opinion. Which isn't worth much. I'm studying dietetics and we refer to starvation as a condition or result of a condition and fasting in a catabolic sense unless it's fasting "due to... medical, social, environmental, etc".
