He hasn’t changed anything he has said. He has consistently mentioned that rates would start coming down when they were confident that enough progress was being made to reach the 2% target, not that they would start cutting at 2%. Monetary policy effects have significant lags, so cutting at 2% would be too late.
it's just investors moving out of big stocks and moving into smaller companies that will benefit more from rate cuts. They ignored these companies for the past 2 years.

I hate to be the one to say it...but, I don't believe we'll get any rate cuts this year. There is virtually no reason for them to cut. The economy, according the the FED, is doing just fine. Sure, unemployment is higher than might be wanted but the FED has been saying unemployment needed to happen. Unless the markets drop precipitously I don't see any rate cuts.
Another reason why market dropped today in face of cooler CPI is that investors appear to be rotating away from the 2024 big winners (high valuation tech) and into small caps.
Guess what Tom? The FED is getting forced to cut rates once again. Inflation is falling because demand is tanking. Then the banks stop lending and start buying bonds, dropping rates, which forces the FED to drop rates. Thats how it works.🙄
I highly doubt rate cuts are coming in Sept. I believe it would need to get close to 2% before cutting or seeing the labor market start to struggle. The labor market is great and the economy is doing well, so why cut and risk reigniting inflation? Powell don’t want to say we will wait until 2% because that would effect markets and create priced in guarantees so he keeps his language always neutral. Wall Street is going to be shocked in September
