I bought the 1/8 ethereal and really like it, it’s so subtle but the 1/4 looks great! I’ve been a fan of URTH filters for a couple of years, I absolutely love them - especially since they plant trees for every filter you buy. 👍🏼
Aw I love reading this!! Yes I was going to get the 1/8 version and think I might still do as it is handy to have! - i just couldn’t afford the two at the same time. The 1/4 has been wonderful and well worth it! Glad you are a fan of them, I think they are great as well. Reasonably prices, great quality and they plant trees, you can’t go wrong 🙃🙃☀️
Yes they are fab! I’ve been using their UV and CP filters on my prime lenses for the last year and they’ve worked great! So definitely wanted to give this filter a try - it did not disappoint 🙂 thank you very much!
In the olden days 😂 we bought cheap UV filters and smeared Vaseline on them to make softening effects. It was unpredictable so say the least. Great review.❤️
I did not know this but that sounds like a great idea! I want to try this now! I have heard of people using tights too which works well! Thank you for watching 🙂🙂
Always been impressed with Urth filters (and I like that they plant trees with orders!), I have a few: ND, UV, CPL… not tried their Ethereal yet but always wanted to - I have the Cinebloom by Moment which I LOVE but they are a bit difficult to get here in the UK… so I’m definitely going to give the Urth Ethereal a go!!
Mystical indeed and great energetic edit. A video of you walking into a misty white abyss would look funky. I have the Urth polariser and it fits my 16-55 and 100-400, my go to for cloudy sunsets. 🙏🏻
You should check out the Lensbaby Trio 28, and the Composer Pro ii with Double Glass ii optic (which comes with creative bokeh discs), so you can have heart shaped or star shaped bokeh, etc. These lenses can give an ethereal/dreamy look. I have the trio, but im looking into getting the double glass ii, and the edge optic. Loved your video on the fujifilm macro extension tubes.
Hehe I think it was, I absolutely love it 🙂 yeah I didn’t change the lens in the end as it worked so well but it does also fit on my 33mm. Thank you and an Eriksaurusrex is always fun 😄✌🏻
Well it will work best outdoors so take a lovely trip out and give it a shot! (Excuse the pun). But I would like to know how you got on in a studio settings too? 🙃
Hi Victoria. What a lovely review, never heard of that filter but it looks fab and is definitely designed for your photography and filming. It would be interesting it see if it makes landscape photos much better. Maybe it should be called a VW Filter. 😎
Aw thank you for this! It really is fab and I really did enjoy using. It’s going to be staying in my camera bag for a long time! Yes it did make a difference, it just softens a lot, especially harsh light but i’ll try it more for landscape! Haha I love this! Maybe Urth will change it to that! Or the Wild Ethereal! ☺️✌🏻☀️
hehe sorry!! it is sooo good!! I've still got to test the PolarPro Mist more as well but that isn't as hazy as this one, but I just love the Urth one! Also, the PolarPro's smallest fitting is 77mm (I think, or they potentially has one in the 60s) but it doesn't fit my prime lenses. So the Urth is a good option for the primes 🙃
it's kind of strange isnt it we strive for pin sharp lenses tons of reviews online and if they dont stand up they get a bad review the lenses can cost in excess of a £1000 for the enthusiast photographers for us then to put on a lens filter that equates to an out of focus/soft photo, love your videos! just curious was these filters gifted to you.
It is interesting! But this still creates pin sharp images, just with a lovely flare - it doesn’t cause a blur. I guess if you had a blurred lens then adding a haze wouldn’t work well but this isn’t what the mist filter does. And nope, I purchased this out of my own pocket - just like everything I own 🙂
Not that I found, i thought my images still came out sharp and clear. If you are after clarity and a pure clear image than the mist filter will not be for you but if you want to add a flare to your work and something different (that I don’t think you can get in the post production) then the filter is great 🙂
I've noticed a blooming in the highlights with mist-style filters. When decreasing clarity, I see a general softness, that doesn't quite replicate the radiance from the filter. Hair spray on a UV filter is a decent DIY alternative.
The whole point is that it creates a mist in the highlights. I found it softened them and I really liked the results. Obviously it is subjective to everyone but I like it. I don’t like perfect styles or images, I like shots with difference. And that is great that you have found an alternative that works for you, i’ll stick with this filter. I love it :)
Erm i’m not quite sure what you mean? I got my filters from the Urth UK store so no taxes. The link in the description takes you to the UK store. Victoria :)
I have the poors…. version I got off of Amazon but I haven’t gotten to use it much yet. I think it might soften the image for video to hide my ugly face 😂
