I had helped while one of them landed in Norman wells NWT with some kind of fuel issue. It is just a one runway airport along side the Mackenzie river just south of the Arctic Circle. We never had an aircraft that big needing fuel. It had to wait one day for the refinery there could make the needed fuel for it. Still then we couldn't get it close enough to the fuel locker so the fuel had to be transferred from the pump island to the plane in a small tandem tanker on wheels. It was quite the affair. We asked for a tour and were rewarded by them before heading up to our Legion for some wet ones. Same for the rest of them in an unprecedent stayover for another day. Both crews were a pleasure to host in our tiny town of 450 souls. They do need more training of there ability to consume our beer up here, LOL. A couple days I will never, ever forget.
