US and Europe Will Finally Sieze some of Russia's Money to Fund Ukraine

The US Congress has approved a law that allows Russian state assets to be confiscated in the US and given to fund Ukraine. And the countries of G7 will soon provide Ukraine with a 30 billion Euro loan, secured by frozen Russian assets and revenues they generate. This marks the start of Russia's payment for the war they started.

Particularly painful for the Russians; The exorbitant exchange rates for virtually worthless Rubbles to purchase by far more viable currencies (USD, Euro, etc.) serves to further amplify Russian losses.

It is shameful how long this is all taking, I can't bear to see all these powerful people waste time by quibbling over details and then expect praise for doing the tiniest things two years after it should have been doen. If our "great democracies" weren't so afraid of upsetting the apple cart, the war would be over by now, Ukrainians would be safe and so many who have died, soldiers and civilians both, would be alive and thriving.

I agree with what Bill Browder said; go after Russian state money first absolutely, but the question of going after individual assets is far more nuanced. Hence, I don't think this should happen as it will have huge long term implications for the US bond market.

Most of the aid being spent on Ukraine is in the form of used, obsolete military equipment, not YOUR cash. Countries have budgets for defense spending. The U.S. has spent less than 4% of its military budget on Ukraine. You need to put things in context.
