This is the Basic Training for Alpha Battery, 3rd Battalion, 321st Field Artillery at Fort Sill Oklahoma. This class began training on October, 1989 and completed AIT in January, 1990.
Fort Sill Oklahoma I was there 1988 -1989. Hollywood barracks Charlie battery. 13 bravo. I don't really remember many of the names of the guys I trained with back then. I remember I was 23 years of age and the 18-year-olds thought I was ancient kept asking me why I waited so late to join. I do remember senior drill sergeant Segovia. I spent a few years in the Arizona and Virginia National guard units. Then in 1998 10 years later I joined the US Navy and spent four years in there. I'm proud of my service in both branches. Still love the roar of those 109 mm howitzers. And the smell of a gunpowder blast when the cannon goes off. Some good memories Good times and hard training. I must admit that it did help me develop some good work ethics in life.
Hottest summer of my life up to that point. Would not trade the experience for anything. I pesonally believe that Basic Training is something every High school graduate should have opportunity to do
Geezus this brings back a lot of memories. Charlie Btry 3/321 1990 I learned how to "cockroach" perfected the art of "Beat your face" and unfortunately found out what "The Place" was. Hated it then but lots of good memories.
+Carlos A. Pacheco Sounds like my DVD from Jackson back in 07. The music during the intro was straight from 1985. I still watch it to give myself a good laugh.
Wow, did this bring back a lot of memories. This was my basic training Btry, 1 PLT with DS Pace, DS Coleman and SDS Brown. That was me at 36:36 recovering from the gas chamber which was not as bad as all the DS's mentioned - hence the fist pump.
Is Anderson still out there - we did basic together, airborne school and first duty station in Vicenza - D Btry 319th AFAR. Sorry about the AT&T Card charges to Berlin, brother man!!
Wow. The memories!! I was C Btry 3/321 FA graduated December '89. These guys were there at the same time as I was. Definitely awesome to see this!! King of Battle!
September-November 1984. Echo Battery, 7th Training Battalion, 2nd platoon. Went from summer to winter in one week. DS: Jackson, King, and Bernard. Loved it!
I did my Basic and AIT here at Fort Sill, from Feb to August 1990 C-Battery 1st/31st FA. My Drill Sgt. was SFC Douglas Wiltcher. He was Airborne, Air Assault, Expert Infantry, baddest dude I ever met. Wow I wish they had some footage of me and the 3rd Platoon! I was PG all the way through basic. The only one that didn't get fired. I remember getting and overnight pass for high PT score. I hung at the Gunner's Inn! Ooosha! Field Artillery, the King of Battle!
I was at Ft. Sill from July-November 1989. Charlie 2/30th (Dogs of War) but was not OSUT like this. My AIT was in the main part of the base, just like the commo guys. I was 13P for my first tour. The training accident in September happened in a cycle after mine....we thought ourselves lucky it wasn't us. They change the unit designations around so often but we had, at that time, one of the only female drills there. She was something else and I remember her more than the other instructors. lol...
C Bat. 1/19th (MadDogs) Aug-Nov9 89 - Our unit missed the accident by one night. We were out there the night before. I remember talking with guys that were there.. I thank my stars for not being there.
Man does this video bring back memories :) I did BCT July-Aug of 1988. C 1-31 . DS Savitski and DS Counts. Both good men who have had a lasting influence on me.
This is awesome! Bravo Battery, 3rd Battalion, 321st Field Artillery August 89-November 89. I was there when the guys got killed and if we would have not been behind in training that would have been us.
I was Bravo 3/321 March to June 1989 then on holdover until your class arrived in August. I was there for a week when you guys arrived. I was holdover because of my clearance..crazy. I had DS Allen and DS Nirschel..two dicks, lol!
I was there. D, 2nd to the 80th, did basic and AIT, fall/winter of 1989. 13 Romeo... Anyone else here reading this was there too, on the same dates, let me know...
3/331 FA I was there just before the start of Desert Shield in what they called the Hollywood Barracks. C Battery 1st Plt JYD. Drill Sgt's Sanders, Jones, and Crow. I'll never forget it! Definitely a " Cry now, Laugh later situation". Charlie Rock..On!!
I started basic in October 1987 my DS were DS Thorpe and DS Lambert. DS Thorpe ranks up with craziest people I ever crossed paths. Basic training was a blast a lot of fun

Hi my name is Robert and this video is of my basic training unit. I was wondering how you came upon this video. After graduating, I was then shipped to Hanau, Germany, where I spent five years.
Ha! I misspelled your name! DS Arellano you really taught me a lot. I felt like I was a real soldier and ready for anything after training. Initially I was NG but a year or so later I went active until mid 1997, for a little over six years. I was E5 on the brink of E6 when I ETS'd. Part of me wishes I had stayed but it's ok. You are one of the toughest DS's ever! I remember you doing pushups on your knuckles on the drill pad! I appreciate you giving me a shout out in front of the CO after BRM.
Ahh the memories...I was there in July of '91 1/19 FA myself...thanks for the upload...I love watching everyone come out of the NBC training...lol. Makes me want to go dig up my video of basic training...

May not have been around during these times. But man I learned real quick why they called it Ft. Chill when I was getting ready to ship there for BCT in the Fall/Winter cycle.
I was at Ft Sill in late summer/fall 1990. I was not OSUT though. Bravo Wolfpack. As you came in the barracks entrrance there was a wolf head painting on the wall. Newer barracks on second level with a covered drill pad below. soda pop machines near drill pad that we where not allowed to use. The can dropping was very loud, Sgt's would know right away. I learned alot. Good DS's I remember. DS Orr, DS Ariano, DS Gooderham. I may have misspelled the last one. Nice video. Thanks
+Ben Bedell Mathurin, that was it. Thanks for that, I couldn't remember his name. if you were there from June-August, you were there the cycle right after I graduated. 2/80th "Be Proud!"
Anyone from B 1/31ST FA from ft. Sill that trained there from July 1993 forward look for me on facebook. James alvarez is my name. Drill sgts. at the time were rayford, veal, allison,Joyner and a few others from the other platoons. Lt. Pfaff was the xo and Capt. Donna Rutten was the bc . 1st sgt. Moyer was also there
Arrived for training at Ft Sill 14 Jan 1987, was assigned to1st PLT, E-BTRY, 3rd FA TRG BN, redesignated E BTRY 3/321st FA while we were in training. D/S Roosevelt, D/S Shirley, D/S Kelly.....I would love to run into any of guys I trained with.
Brings back memories for sure! Was there in 1990....A Co. 1/19 Field Artillery under Drill Sergeant Almanza (that dude was the best...mean as fuck, but the best)
This brings back some great memories. I was MP so we didn’t do the heavy artillery, but we went crazy with small arms. And I still have the picture someone took of me when I came out of the gas chamber. Loved the guy at 45:45 I getting the dreaded “no go” and remember well “front leaning rest position”.
OSUT 13M B 2/30 4th platoon Wolfpack sept 1990 to jan 1991. Home for 10 day leave then back and assigned to a unit going to desert storm. Life changing.
@@wewiii Yeah. We were in week 7 if I remember correctly. It was Alpha 2/80 and they ran two groups that day. 1st and 2nd platoon with my 3rd getting split between the two.
Do they make videos for each BT / AIT rotation now? I guess that video wasn't so easy to do when I went through in 82 so all that I got was a photo-book and that took about two months to arrive I my parents home--I think that I first seen the book on my second leave after I'd already spent a year at my first permanent party unit, the 2/35 FA, Ft. Stewart, GA. That unit was retired / decommissioned a few years after I moved on to Korea, Germany and HI. I miss the days in uniform but then again...
I was at sill in October of 89 till feb 90 I recognize one of the drill instructers. It was colder that shit there. I was alpha first and thirty third. Whats bad is all I remember is how cold it was.
Does anyone out there in Ft. Sill land have access to the graduation book and video of BCT/OSUT training of May - Sep 1986 13E? 4th training battalion, Echo Battery?
