9-18-22 The trick is to get into a military career field that has an equivalent civilian job-preferable attached to City, State or Federal employment. When you have completed your active duty commitment you will have laid the ground work in advance on where you want to live and that your new employer is expecting you to fill a specific job that you know well. Military people are preferred because they have a work ethic and discipline.

I'm fresh out of Infantry OSUT, and I'm kind of having regrets picking 11b because most of what I will learn as an 11b won't transfer into the civilian world
@makicklighter
@makicklighter Год назад
@@Blinx777 Yes it can, but unfortunately most of the civilian jobs related to combat arms will be civil service jobs or law enforcement (which may be undesirable for those of you who identify most closely with the Black Lives Matter movement and wouldn't want to be in the law enforcement field. Police, correctional officers, probationary officers, etc usually will hire you prior to discharge. You will also learn to do other things when you get to your unit - volunteer to learn to drive tractor trailers, complete you enlistment in good standing and work for walmart as a regional truck driver and be home with your family every night or an over the road long distance hauler where you wotk a week on and week off. Both make ~$110, 000 a year.

I’m enlisting due to losing almost everything and in pursuit to get my life together and to embark on a personal journey to find myself and create a sense of stability in my life, I went to school for audio engineering but became homeless due to my household, I’ve always been disciplined and never really had much of a child hood, I pay up to 900 a month in child support, and I can’t find any steady means of employment in my area. Am I making the right decision?? I’m supposed to leave in a week and a half.

Promotion in the Army will be easier, for both enlisted and officer. AF revolves around pilot support and some officer ranks, such as finance, has fewer billets, thus slower progression. That said, the officer ranks eat up more of the Air Force personnel dollars and being the smaller of the services, has fewer enlisted people than the Army. What does this mean? You only get promoted (after E4 in the Army or E3 in the Air Force) if there is a leadership position available and you are more qualified than some other SPC (the promotion system is a whole different bear that you will only understand once you been in the service for a while). Both branches, percentage-wise, require the same # of NCO positions. But, since the Army is larger (488,000 vs 384,000), their 10% of positions will equate to more available positions. ALTHOUGH, AF have more high tech jobs than the Army. You need to always be looking for the future when you get out. What MOS's equate to good civilian employment? Healthcare, healthcare, healthcare. So much more for you to think about going forward - there needs to be a you tube channel for that as well.

I love watching your videos along with a few other military RU-vidrs. So my question is with me being 31 I’ll be 32 this year do you think it’s too late that I want to join the military at this age. I want to join because I don’t currently have kids but I do plan to have one and I want the best for my child and of course myself. I went to school on and off also working but not pleased with my current job. I have two friends that are like sisters that’s older than me 34 to be exact one went to basic last summer when she was 33 and the other is going this fall at 34. If I go I won’t be able to go til maybe next year sometime. I think it could be a good thing my mom said she think I should and if she had listen to herself when she was younger she would’ve went so that’s another reason why I’m thinking should I try to go for it.
