The aircraft can perform reconnaissance missions at high altitudes of 70,000 feet day or night, and in all weather conditions. This aircraft is also used for investigation and validation of satellite data.

On the pogo stick if one is damage, they insert one wheel on one side and a airman climbs or is hoisted on that same time to balance the wings out and he u2 taxi slowly back to the hangar. I seen that happen in OsanAB korea back in the 80s
