I am still amaze how the B-52 bomber still do its job. With some improvment it still a reliable aircraft. People who are working at this plane should be proud of dedication and work done for improvment. I tip my hat to them.

@speedntktzlastname2182
@speedntktzlastname2182 11 месяцев назад
Lots of former maintenance people critical of personnel on this job. This does not look like maintenance and more likely is part of work being done to develop the upgrade for B52. New engine program has been in work for quite some time along with other upgrades. You need a fuselage to work out those details along the way. When a modern B52 fly's with those upgrades these people will be proud.

@@douglasemerson9017 yes, I was speaking to the wingless fuselage. That clearly is B52 CERP&RMP, not a maintenance project. Rest of the video cover maintenance and training.

I think that rotary launch system is the coolest launching system for bombers that’s come down the pipeline in a long time! It’s my understanding that it can be used in several different airframes since it’s introduction and if this is the case then it truly is Bad Ass!
@utley
@utley 11 месяцев назад
They arent interchangable between aircraft. The B-52 rotary system is larger than the B-1B bay, not certain about the B-2A bomber though. I would assume the Spirit has a smaller rotary than the B-1B, but I could be wrong.

Tinker AFB is involved with B-52 maintenance. It had Zeiss UPMC-550 and UPMC-850 capable of measuring any 3 axes to better than 2 microns accuracy and were used for incipient failure detection. E.g., if a 400 Hz generator had changed more than 30 microns from its last eccentricity measurements, it would be flagged to be remanufactured or scrapped.

Ralph, good eye! Even as a older former C-5 Mechanic I did not catch that. Rings are a special No No when working on anything mechanical for many reasons not the least of which is that it’s a quick way to loose a finger or worse!

What is the reason why those engines are so smokey on takeoff? Is it because they are more efficient and cleaner-burning at higher altitude?
