The silver proof set in 2017 was $47.95 and now its $150. Inflation is bad, but not that bad. Ive cancelled all my silver subscriptions just on principle
I found it amazing they were asking $147 for a 200 coin bag of uncirculated Kennedy half dollars. No silver content! So now we have to pay a 47% premium for non-numismatic regular circulating non silver coinage? What am I missing here? And $91 now for 0.86 oz silver coins? As usual it was a ripoff before and now even more so.
Yes. I bought the 2023 American Liberty silver medal. It was $15 cheaper and the US Mint accepts Paypal MC - so there is 3% more back. Better than fighting in the secondary market on Ebay. Probably would look good as a set with the matching gold coin.
Didn't the mint already raise the prices of their products when silver hit $30+ dollars the last time it hit $30+ dollars ? So now it drops, but they do not lower the prices, and when it goes back up to $30+ again, they raise the prices again. I'm done with the mint screwing me over. They can have it.
I thought about buying ahead of the price hike and decided against it as I know the secondary market will not react to the hike. So, I likely won't be able to resale at a profit. I think this price hike may be the final straw for many!
I think it’s odd they raised the price a day before they drafted my checking account for my subscription. I got 3 Morgan’s for 273$ and 3 peace dollars for the same amount. Even if I would have cancelled my subscriptions they would have still charged me. You need 3 days to cancel a subscription before it drops. Sketchy.
Well, everything else is going up too..... I just bought my first 2019-S enhanced reverse proof Silver Eagle. I'd be really unhappy if there was a chance to get it for $105 and I missed it. 😅
Thank you SW, I wonder if ABPP got their release of 2024 Morgan/Peace uncirculated coins at the old price. If they did that would be another U.S. Mint ABPP slap in the face of collectors. I see a TV sales member of ABPP is already offering them today.
Add this to the long list of reasons to hate the mint. Prior to cancelling my Morgan and Peace Dollar sub I received an email confirmation showing three of each at the price before the increase. If I did not cancel my sub they would have processed the sale at the higher price. I had a Liberty/Britannia in my bag at the original price. The sale did not go through because the status went to remind me. When remind me became add to bag the price was adjusted to the increased price.
I would say someone knows what's coming down the pike and is getting ahead of the game. The post office is raising stamps, another 5 cents for each stamp, or $1 dollar higher per 20.
Does this mean my big mistake of buying a shiit load of 2023 Uncirculated Morgan and Peace Dollars from the US Mint last year have increased in value from $76 to $91? If's that the case, maybe I didn't do so bad buying them by earning 20% increase in value today, one year later.

Meandering thought: The Uncirc West Point Eagle and the Silver Proof Set might be worth getting if the Mint pulled the products at the end of the year. But they don't and they won't. They will be on sale for years. Pity. I have meandered to the end of my thought. Hey. Where's my house?
I was on the fence about starting a monthly US Mint subscription and then this happened. Looks like I will keep waiting until they figure out how loyal this community can be, how we 'vote with our feet' by walking away. for the love of stacking!
Hey SW, I unchecked all my US Mint subscriptions. I can't pay $60+ over silver spot price for these coins and medals. The Mint is throwing Bidenomics on the poor public.
If spot is 30 dollars and you turn around and buy an ounce for 80 and 90 dollars who is really the fool...An Eagle is nothing more than a round with the Government title
I consider myself a pretty easy going guy. But for some reason, this price hike is hitting me hard and really aggravating me. For me, this hike is the straw that broke the camel's back. No doubt about it. I canceled all my subs except for the AWQ series. I'm in way too deep to bow out now. I can get 3 ounces of generic silver for a couple of dollars more than 1 Morgan. I'll take the 3 generics all day long. PLUS, I only get .859 ounces of silver in the Morgan. SMH.
The Mint is screwing the buyers again. I placed my subscription orders back in January 2024. Why didn't they honor the subscription prices. Some person(s) at the Mint are NOT doing their jobs.
@scotts4134 just started stacking silver about 8 months ago. Appreciate your content...just thought I'd recommend something to help the sound quality of your content brother....but to each their own I guess. God Bless
