The largest submarine in the US Navy is facing a giant problem. With the current class of guided-missile submarines or SSGNs being retired in the next few years, the Navy has a big problem in trying to fill that gap. With issues converting existing Virginia-class submarines to take their spot, the Navy is left scrambling to replace these boats in an operating environment where it is not advisable to do so.

If GE can’t fulfill what they said they can do, then the U.S. needs to find another builder that can keep their word and deliver on the date they say they can deliver! Maybe that’s the problem, G E know there’s no one else and don’t care because they have been the builders since 1800’s! FIND A NEW SHIP BUILDER AND GET RID OF G.E.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this issue. It's important to hold companies accountable for their promises. How did you like today's videos?

It's General Dynamics (GD), not GE....but maybe there is a systemic problem as pointed out in the video, lack of qualified workers. It seems education has gotten so expensive in the US, qualified anything is getting harder to implement. TSMC shut down its high end fab for semiconductors in Arizona for lack of qualified workers. Hamburger flippers won't do. The US is underperforming in STEM graduates. The US produces about the same number as does Russia and Russia has one half the population of the US. China has four times the population but producing eight times more STEM students than the US and that ratio is expected to rise to 15 times more by 2030.

I’m not so sure I really want to trust American companies anymore , especially with stuff like that.

Doesn't the DoD have a binding maintenance schedule with General Dynamics for all nuclear submarines as well as a plan for replacement and decomissioning of older subs as newer subs came on line? If not, why not?

So many of us watch our jobs cause of Reagan I was a red badge security clearance worked in the shipyard as a shipwright so many of us went on to other types of jobs. This is 40 years ago or more. We warned you I think this video is for shit she's my language, submission of what we're talking about.

I think that your message in this video is merely propaganda. Why? You talked about American subs, but you showed at least one Russian sub surfacing. Do you know how to recognize our subs?
