While in Okinawa in 1971 we were fishing off of the Island in the Sea of Japan when a US Navy sub came up close enough to see the people on top as well as speak to them. Pretty awesome sight. I thought it was great.

These things have come a long way from when Jules Verne theorycrafted them with his 20,000 Leagues book. In the novel the Nautilus couldn't even break through the ice, forcing the crew to have to take shifts coming out in diving suits to help dig their way out. Wow , this is so awesome!!! I have always been fascinated seeing submarines go down and especially come back up !! My dream is to be at the helm doing that ! 🤭 It also feels weird to me that something as monstrous as a submarine needs help breaking through the ice . 🤔
