This was my favorite game from the US Open, mostly because I really liked the way I played the early game. I stayed strong, did a mix of AI/modern moves while also staying true to my favorite moves before AI came around. When I get into such a comfortable position I feel confident in winning. The only thing I was not confident in was my reading which is what lost me the game.

I don't understand this game at all, but I felt embraced by the dialog over the placing of stones on wood

Intersting game. Shows me that I still have trouble counting as during mid-game, I would have felt uncomfortable as black with an avalanche in the middle but huge white frameworks in the corner & potential on the side. Probably it was one of the biggest sente races I've ever seen in Go.

Really good game! It's nice to see solid play and don't try to rush things. Easy to follow with your thoughts! Thanks for sharing it

Great game. I love the style of making everything strong and then pouncing on mistakes. Newer player question: At the point in time when you surrounded the heavy white group in the upper right, how do you feel about, instead, taking profit on the right and forcing the white group to run out and connect through mostly neutral space?

Surrounding the right side is better because of my potential weakness. If the right side breaks into the center, even if neutral area, it does mean I will have to live with my top group at some point. It also makes it easier to invade the left later since I don’t have to worry about ladders or other center stuff. I could make the bottom group run though, would probably be the correct fight to take. So the idea is good, but the target is wrong in my opinion.
