US teacher yells racial slur at students during meltdown 

I'm a teacher. How bad the students are, don't ever degrade them using racial slurs and condescending statements. You are an educator.

She clearly said something very insulting to those young kids. I mean, you about to lose it, go outside, ask a teacher to fill in. Don’t yell at a bunch of kids, and insult them. Like, what the hell is that gonna do?

I would just leave the class in a heartbeat. The worst part is that it's not even in a high school, but a JUNIOR high school.

As someone who spent a year volunteering in these sorts of school - never again will I do that - I completely understand and she is telling the truth.

I swear on everything that before the black lady spoke I KNEW that black people are going to be the ones to defend her, because she was legit upset watching those kids not caring about their future, and the N word slipped out of anger not out of racism. The people who fired her are most likely the real racists. I have all the respect for the mother justifying for the teacher.

No matter how mad you are as a teacher it’s your job to keep your calm with students.

The racial slur and the “getting shot” insult definitely weren’t needed for that teacher to get her message across

As a teacher you should never use racial slurs in a disrespectful way to get a point across to the students. That is NEVER OK.

with all due respect to the mother, the teacher didn't get fired because her "message was wrong" - she got fired for being inappropriate and derogatory in a learning environment; a place which is meant to feel like a safe space for children to learn and grow. Her level of aggression, combined with the slur, spoke volumes for her lack of professionalism. It's just a bit yikes innit Edit: Since everyone keeps bringing this up, I wanted to say something. I’m not saying schools are a safe space. I spent most of my time in high school being terrified someone would try to kill me because I was a gay kid in a conservative school. What I’m saying is they SHOULD be safe spaces. A place free of judgement, where you can try your best to hone your own development, and discover who you want to be in life. That’s what all schools should ASPIRE to be. And yes, in reality, no school is ever going to be perfect. Even the most well off schools have severe issues with bullying amongst their students - and unfortunately, because of how socially complex we are as human beings, there probably always will be issues. But as a teacher, it is an obligation to try and make school as bearable as possible, while still remaining professional. Teachers alone can not solve all the problems there are with the education system, but they can certainly contribute.

The irony is now that she can’t get a job.

im a teacher myself, no matter what happens whether you are frustrated with your students or not you need to be the better person at all times. Being a teacher takes a lot of patience, but if your patience runs out, you should know how to manage your anger. You are an educator, you are a role model!

Nothing justifies a teacher using racist language. If kids aren't behaving then there are other ways to handle it but discrimination is not one.
