US Testing Its New $3.8 Billion Stealth Destroyer 

I can't wait for the moment when Zumwalt becomes the most dangerous surface combatant that ever sailed the seas. In it's current configuration Zumwalt destroyer is a formidable platform, but ever since the ammunition for its 2 advanced gun systems was canceled (the price exploded to almost 1 million $ per projectile which is almost as expensive as the Block V Tomahawk missile),1/3rd of the Zumwalt became dead weight. Now the US Navy decided that DDG-1000 class will be the Navy's first platform to receive the new in development hypersonic missiles. AGS guns will be removed from the ship and canisters with yet unknown number of hypersonic missiles will be installed in their place. Zumwalt will have 80 VLS tubes positioned around the edge of the ship, filled with the combination of the self defense missiles like the quad packed ESSMs, SM-2, SM-6 and Tomahawks. But the long range hypersonic glide missiles will be game changers that will be capable of striking ships and land targets at ranges of over a 1000 miles. Too bad the class was cut to only 3 ships, but there is some indication that the next generation large surface combatant that will replace the venerable Arleigh Burke class destroyers, will be partly based on the Zumwalt. It's obvious that the future generation of weapons will necesitate hulls that are larger than Burke's 9000 tonnes. And with Zumwalt being a 15 000 tonne destroyer, that's significantly larger than even the Ticonderoga cruisers, it's safe to say that the next gen destroyer will be of similar size. Chinese type 055 is around 12 000 tonnes too.

I would’ve included the Israeli Sa’ar 6 class corvette. Multi-role, highly versatile. Has a heavy punch of 16 Gabriel V anti-ship missiles and 32 VLS cells for Barak-8 SAM’s. Most importantly, it has 40 cells for the naval version of the famous Iron Dome defense system, the C-Dome

Skjold and the Zumwalt are stealth destroyers that stand out in comparison to the rest.

This isn't a destroyer. A 3.8B$ ship is a capital ship. A destroyer has traditionally been a small, cheap hull you can build by the dozen. If you build this, you'll get three and find out they don't work.

Yes but does zumwalt class and it's mysterious guns I think the railguns and I think they're having trouble with them but they ain't worked out all the bugs but yes I think they are real guns

The ridiculous " Musick " is bad by itself but when combined with a narrator that cannot even say the common word versatile properly , it makes this not even worth watching. Please have these reviewed by someone with greater than a 4th grade education before releasing the final cut after corrections have been made and get rid of that annoying noise which you assume is music.

This is how America is destroyed: our weapons (and most all capital spending by business and government) are more and more complex (because the vendors will up sell for that spending), and therefore more expensive. That complexity leads to further massive cost overruns. Then that same complexity leads to more operation problems and intractable software bugs. Then those weapons (or projects in government and business) are no more effective than the previous generation’s capabilities, if not outright utterly mediocre. Then the project gets cancelled and we’re left with nothing but a massive bill to show for it. Rinse and repeat until bankruptcy and collapse.
