As a Canadian, thought about travelling to the US on vacation this year. Now I don’t think so. I’ll keep my hard earned money at home. I know most Americans are good people, but I’m not giving my money to a president who just gave me the middle finger.

it's so funny. the US exports 50% of it's steel to canada. now canada imposes 25% tariffs on that. canada also has a free trade agreement with the EU, the very same EU that has overcapacities in steel production because of china dumping it's cheep steel on the world like there is no tomorrow. so canada simply buys steel from the EU where it is abundant and free of tariffs. canada still gets steel, the EU finaly can sell their steel and the US is left out. good job trump everyone is happy except for the US. what country is he president of again? first he helps china with their criminal spy companies selling phones in the US now he is helping the EU to sell steel to canada. make america great again?

Canada should put a tariff on Canadian hockey players, because without them...US teams would suck.

My family thought this war the War of 1812. Canada and Mexico have always been our friends and allies and one of the reasons that the United States is strong! We have never held ill-will towards Canada, in fact many times they have come to our defense! And as far as Mexicans go I find them to be some of the hardest working Americans we have in our great nation! I'm very proud of our nation and the progress in for which it has come! But it even in the 21st century we still have a long way to go! We cannot allow a president to bully, and intimidate our friends and allies! What Donald Trump does not realize that the branches of government may work for him, but he works for the American people! And he works at our whim! Meaning we do not have to wait for term limits to remove him! We are a democracy where the rule of law should be not just applied reinstituted! We're even the wealthy of our great nation shall be held accountable for their actions! When they are not working in the betterment of our great nation! As far as Canada goes they are our friends, and we are not an island! We are a continent we do not stand alone We Stand Together!

If you don't like the trade war, stop buying American products and buy local products. Many are very similar in price and the cost will be the same. Really you just may end up getting better quality also.

I'm trying to recall when we in the U.S started to think we were invincible with regards to the rest of the world.Not only with trade, but pretty much anything else. I can't understand why we here think we can go it alone. I agree the U.S is a large part of the world economy at 25%, but that means the rest of the world is 75%. Together they could do real harm to us and we are taunting them to just try it. I never hear anyone here in this country stating what possible barriers we throw up to other economies. I am sure there are many as well. China is the real adversary regarding world trade with oversupply of products of all kinds. The American politicians have decided to fight them alone as well instead of digging in with our allies. Even the thought of Trumps future actions has forced our allies to look for tariff free areas to get and sell their wares. Canada is going so far as to create a new pipeline to the west coast because they don't trust the U.S regarding the purchase of their oil.I don't blame them as the U.S has shown it will not respect any agreement already in place with nations friend or foe. I guess this it what some of us Americans think "draining the swamp and make American great again" is all about. What a sad and obvious mistake. Lastly, any crumbs of missed opportunity we leave behind will be gladly picked up by other nations and we will one day find ourselves wondering what happened to us.

I never thought as an American that I would be apologizing for my country. This is a sad a front on 3 of our closest allies and trading partners. America sold its manufacturing base to China for short terms gains. The patient Chinese are playing the long game while a few unpatriotic Americans continue to sell them the American dream. I have heard you all talk of WW2 and how the U.S.A. "saved" Europe from Fascist Germany. If by shifting the balance of the worlds power from the U.K.'s coffers to a few war mongrels in the States then yes you are correct. Its the same reason we helped in the the Great War (ww1). Capitalism to survive has to have perpetual growth if not it stalls out and fails. The 1 pct can only take so much of the wealth in this country before it drains the people dry. This is in effect what is happening and why the U.S.A. as THE super power of the 20th century is treading water to stay ahead of the Chinese in the 21st century who have for 50 + years been in poverty and are now seeing there middle class grow as ours did after WW2. So with no manufacturing base the U.S.A. has only one choice to continue to grow and that is through military strength and war. Eisenhower, the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces warned us of the military Industrial complex. 67% of our taxes feed this machine yearly. We have a trillion dollar budget when you add in the C.I.A. DOD, NSA, DHS and the pentagon. our 2nd largest expenditure is 56 billion on our failing education system. Kind of sucks. I work for a Canadian manufacturer trying to buy Stainless steel from an American supplier. Guess what the tariffs are there. We will be sourcing a supplier elsewhere. Sorry USA. I personally won't be shopping at Walmart, Home Depot or Starbucks again.
