The Fosters was based on Good Times. It even says at the end of each Fosters episode. It was Created by Mike Evans who you may or may not know as Lionel Jefferson from The Jeffersons. In fact, in series 2 you can compare the 1975 episodes of Good Times scene for scene to the 1978 episodes of The Fosters...starting with The Nude, here on You Tube.
