Apparently evidence doesn't actually matter to them at this point. "It was notified by the court that their rules do not allow for the decision to be reconsidered even with conclusive evidence."
@mike_majora which doesn't make sense. If that's the case how did the Romanian's appeal get considered?? Furthermore, how did it get approved if the TRUTH is Jordan's coaches' inqury was within the 1 min time frame?? No fact-checking then? Make it make sense?? Sound like a cover up!
@@olashadeabidoye7624 completely agreed. It makes so little sense that I'm almost optimistic that they won't get away with it. No sane person can look at this situation and not see how shady it is
@@LQ_1980which Romanian? B/c their are disputes there. Also the appeals happen all the time. Sabrina also put in an appeal but was rejected. Jordan's wasn't. It's part of the competition process. Jordan EARNED the medal because she and her coaches did everything correctly and within the rules. The Romanians through CAS, IOC, FIG are trying to steal something that wasn't there's.
@@LQ_1980 get the full story before making such a dumb comment. The judges failed to consider the entirety of Jordan's routine. Maybe they did it deliberately. So, Romania would be getting a pity or consolation bronze their gymnast didn't actually win. This isn't boxing where technical knockouts count.
First of all, the fact that everybody automatically went with the Romanians complaining that Landi's inquiry was made four seconds past the minute deadline is mad suspicious because that wasn't even verified before that ruling went into effect. How an entire committee can just blindly go along with an accusation without carefully confirming its validity screams incompetence to me. I used a stopwatch to see how much time lapsed between the posting of Jordan's score and Landi's inquiry and it was literally 47 seconds. So that's #1. #2: Why Sabrina got penalized for something she didn't do is also beyond me and I don't understand why the judges immediately rejected the inquiry into her score, unless the penalty is considered a part of the execution score and not the difficulty value. I know only the DV can be contested but not the execution. #3: The fact that Jordan is being ordered to return her medal five whole days (???) after the competition and the CAS refuses to view the video footage proving that Landi's inquiry was made well within the time limit of 1 minute after telling Jordan she needs to give up her medal is foul. #4. The inquiry shouldn't have even needed to be made in the first place but the judges are obviously severely incompetent at their job which is why this whole fiasco came about in the first place. #5. The gymnasts are absolutely not to blame or ridicule for any of this. The Romanians even said they would be content with Jordan sharing 3rd place with them. Anyway the CAS and the judges can all go to hell lmaooo
couldn’t have put it better myself. judging this olympics has been an absolute joke and the hardworking and dedicated gymnasts are the ones that have to suffer

The judges in the stadium are supposed to know the rules. If the USA's appeal was past the time limit, then the judges should not have accepted the appeal. Since they did, the decision made in the stadium, in the moment, should be final. You don't see the NFL or NBA changing the outcomes of games due to bad decisions by refs.
Back in 2004, U.S. gymnast, Paul Hamm's all-around gold medal was challenged by Korea. Without going into the details, the Court for Arbitration of Sport (CAS) ruled in Paul's favor because it was clear he had rightfully won. I have a copy of that CAS ruling. In it, they make a great explanation as to why decisions made by referees and judges in good faith "in the field of play" must be respected and why doing so is integral to the spirit of sport and competition. They also said part of being an athlete is having the implicit understanding that at times there WILL be calls and decisions you may not agree with but that is part of the unwritten agreement every athlete consents to every time they take the field, court, track, or floor. As you said, if this was not the case, every sport would be bogged down by incessant replays and constant challenges from athletes and teams not happy with their loss.
@@ivnarc6430they gave her the medal because she earned it. They are tying to take it because Romanians threatened them and they want to diminish the historic black podium moment.
The judges accepted the inquiry and changed Jordan’s score, when they should’ve judged her correctly in the first place. Hopefully they own up to their mistake & let her keep the Bronze medal. Soo much drama behind the scenes of the Paris Olympics. SMH 🤦🏾♀️
The 3 athletes in this case did nothing wrong. All 3 gave stellar performances. The Judges screwed up and the IOC made a wrong decision. They should give all 3 a bronze medal, instead they "threw them to the media wolves." Sad.
When conclusive evidence is ignored then we know for certain corruption is at play. Athletes should not win Olympic medals because the Romanian Prime Minister and Nadia Comeneci are not pleased with a particular outcome. This is disgusting and undermines the fairness of the sport in front of the entire international community. You cannot steal an Olympic medal. The moment where Jordan won is memorialized in history. If her medal is given to Romania that Athlete will never be respected as the rightful winner. All involved should be embarrassed to make such a illogical ruling.
Maybe the "timestamp" evidence isn't conclusive technology can make the lines blurred. I don't really understand gymnastic scoring and I don't think most do. Visually the medalists are usually obvious to me. I'm from the U.S. to me this controversy is because they wanted an all black podium so they decided it was OK to bump the white girl.
@@danielcoffman3739 Nice conspiracy, dummy. You fear an all black podium -- but you will never be honest about it. The all black podium was awesome -- a first, but definitely not the last.

I'll say it again. It's not her ef'n fault, her coach's fault, or the other gymnast. It is the ef'n judge's fault. Stop trying to save their ssaes and find another ef'n solution. Jordan"s medal should ABSOLUTELT NOT be ef'n taken away! Period!
This debate is futile because the real injustice was against Sabrina Maneca-Voinea and not Ana Barbosu or Jordan Chiles. Don't be biased; just watch the heel turn. It did NOT touch the floor. This brought Sabrina below both Ana and Jordan, regardless of any appeals by these two.
That reminds me of the 2004 Olympics where Paul Hamm's men's all-around Olympic gold was challenged by Korea. It turned out Paul rightly won the gold. He didn't "steal" Yang Tae Young's medal. In fact, it was Yang that benefited from the judges' mistakes during the competition, not Paul. Replay of the event in question, parallel bars, showed Yang made a mistake for which he did not receive a mandatory deduction. Had all things played out as they should have and Yang received that deduction, he would NOT have earned his bronze but ended up off the podium with no medal. The judges mistake benefited Yang himself, and it was Ioan Siucu of Romania who got screwed out of a bronze medal and ended up in fourth. All the focus was on Paul and Yang, but that's not really who ended up losing out.
I was watching the Olympics when this all came down. My heart hurts so badly for the Romanian girl This is a horrible situation. I don’t understand at this highest level they don’t have this figured out. How can you announce and then take away for both ladies! This is not the first time it happened. It’s happened in past years!
I didn’t feel bad for the Romianian girl! Not even Rebecca or Simone were celebrating with their flags yet because they were not final! That thing Ana did was on her, her score and placement was not announced but she went up there anyways and embarrassed herself!
Show us the move in question and analysis showing her appeal was valid. That is true journalism not keeping it hidden and telling us she deserved it. Show us she deserved the upgraded score or stop. PUT UP OR SHUT UP as the saying goes. Stop gaslighting us
They ACCEPTED the application did they not? This is some crap. They have to fight it or they may take another one of our medals in the future. Hold the judges accountable! 👆
It was the JUDGES FAULT. Even with evidence that proves everything was done correctly, the court is saying your proof doesn't matter. This is beyond issues of the sport, this is racism. There's has been NUMEROUS moments where black athletes have been mistreated since these Olympics have been in France. This is not accidental, this is racism throughout these Olympics, point blank. I think France needs to be banned from hosting games of any magnitude for at least a decade. All those moments was intentional.
We love you Jordan. We are proud of you! You earned the bronze! You clearly completed the tour jete full and the judges should be the ones taking accountability for THEIR error in not giving you the proper credit for a skill you performed!
The IOC, agreed to the higher score. Because the IOC did not do their job right. Pay for your mistakes. Let her keep the Gold. Four seconds late, doesn’t change the score y’all got wrong in the first place.
It's not the Gold it's the Bronze for floor individual.. She won the gold as a Team ... It's the Bronze they took away , it was Simone & jordan competing only .. Simone won the Silver & Jordan the Bronze and Rebecca of Brazil won the Gold for individual Floor..
Another element has been read about the situation: The Romanian gymnast's execution score was higher, thus breaking the tie. However, that score wasn't the basis of the Romanian appeal. It was the time factor- appeal made, allegedly, four seconds too late. Thus, the medal was rescinded based on that technicality. Odds are that most of Chile's race-tinged detractors are Americans who only support certain athletes when they are helping the USA outpace other countries for medals.
All this drama is really devaluing the value of this bronze medal. Frankly speaking, that one Romanian girl who didn’t step out of bounds but penalized should be claiming the bronze over her own countryman and Jordan Chiles. This is a mess.
Apparently, the deduction wasn't because of stepping out of bounds but a long pause in her routine. Secondly, this happens all the time in competition where deductions are given but it's the job of coaches to inqury. Sabrina's coaches failed to inqury the right deduction, but Jordan's did. The medal belongs to Jordan since everything was done correctly within the right time-frame. #JusticeforJordan
"IOC is showing their racism and displeasure of the display of pure respect and love shown by Jordan and Simon towards Rebecca. Its the podium celebration."
You should Fight because the athletes have done nothing wrong. The system needs to be evaluated and the judges should give both young ladies a bronze. Jordan was scored wrong and to take the medal is simple mental cruelty.
@@e.d.h.5605Deal with what? Your inability to comprehend that the performances of either party are not in question? It is the timing of the appeal, 4seconds over the I minute limit, which was found to be FALSE! In other words, more simplified for you! They lied! Period!
Dont return it, keep it or destroy it. Destroying it would end it. Though if she decides to return it she should go to Romania and deliver it in person. Keep the 3rd parties out of it. This would be seen as a class act and have a positive ending.
The coverage of this situation is interesting. Many say Chiles initially "won" the bronze but was then "stripped" of the medal. Neither of these things are true. It was Romania's Barbosu that initially won the bronze. It was HER name that appeared in third on the scoreboard. Chiles can't be "stripped" of something she didn't initially win. The appeal was made, and Chiles was elevated to third instead. As such, it was Barbosu who was "stripped" of the medal, although even that language is not appropriate. Neither gymnast did anything wrong, and the phrase "stripped of the medal" implies it was revoked because of wrongdoing like doping or cheating, which also isn't the case. I wish these reports would be more accurate. I also find it interesting that USA Gymnastics is supporting Chiles so fiercely, even vowing to go to the Swiss Tribunal to challenge the CAS denial of their appeal. Back in 2004, when Korea challenged Paul Hamm's men's all-around Olympic gold medal, USA Gymnastics completely abandoned him, even asking him to give the medal to Korea's Yang Tae Young while cowering under a firestorm of media criticism that wasn't even willing to wait on passing judgement until CAS made its ruling. In the end, CAS ruled in Hamm's favor because he also had video proof confirming his rightful win. The media, however, NEVER corrected their initial false reports much less explained how Paul was completely vindicated. It would have been nice had all this support from USA Gymnastics and the media that Chiles is receiving had been there for Paul.
Chiles DID win it. She EARNED the difficulty and the judges agreed with her after their review. WITHIN the required inquiry parameters, which the Romanians have lied about.
@@justlina2769 No one has seen the video that US Gymnastics said they have that proves the appeal from the coach was made in the allotted time. I question why it wasn't even released to the media. If USG has a real case, it seems they would release it publicly. Even so, it was Barbosu, NOT Chiles who was listed as the original bronze medal winner based on the real-time analysis of the competition. There are MANY instances in various sports where calls are made that players and coaches disagree with after the fact and yet, the original decision stands. In the CAS case that involved Paul Hamm in 2004, the CAS judges provided an excellent explanation as to why decisions made in good faith "in the field of play" must be respected even though at times they're not always perfect. Part of being an athlete is holding the implicit understanding that there will be times when you don't agree with scoring]/judging decisions that are made and yet, you choose to compete anyway. It's part of being in competition. I find it interesting that with all the sympathy Chiles seems to be getting, there is NONE for the Romanian. That's unfortunate and unless you've seen the USG video, you can't claim the Romanian coaches are "lying."
@@L1623VP So what? It isn't the world who is going to make the decision it is the IOC. And to say an appeal decision can not be appealed is ridiculous if they can prove the Romanians claim is false.
@@justlina2769 So what? I give you the legal precedent of similar CAS cases, and your response is, So what? Wow. The decision came from CAS. THEY make all decisions when sporting calls are contested. They are a court system. As a sports agency, the IOC has no legal authority. The only authority the IOC has is to reallocate the medals, and CAS has directed the IOC to reallocate the bronze based on their ruling. It's pretty simple, really.
Ya, the same "prejudice" that allowed Simone Biles to win all her new Olympic medals, becoming the most-decorated gymnast of all time, and the same "prejudice' that allowed the U.S. ladies to win the team gold...you know, the SAME ladies team that only had ONE non-black gymnast on it. Prejudice??? Get over yourself.
No, but she could be sanctioned and blocked from future Olympic and international competitions because of it. It would also smack of poor sportsmanship and be a stain on her career. In fact, some might say it would help her public image and career even more by turning the medal over to the IOC.
@@L1623VP I strongly disagree because it was the JUDGES fault for giving an INCORRECT score to begin with. Jordan won bronze if the judges were competent and knew what they were doing. By turning the medal over, the judges get away with giving out an incorrect score without penalty. The judges should be penalized not the athlete.
@@L1623VP When Simone Biles quit on Team USA during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, it was seen as a stain on Biles career as well but she recovered from it and went on to win all around gold and floor silver, so Chiles should be able to keep her medal that she won without being forced to give it up due to judges error.
Every coach will submit a inquiry now, even if your in first place. Just accept your score and move on. What is next? Instant replay for your challenge?
Jordan did not stand a fair chance with the powers that be. Eastern European countries in particular the old Soviet Union Block are not happy about what the faces and Nations are starting to look like in a sport they once dominated. They've unjustly flexed what little muscles they have left politically with the IOC. Personally, If I was Jordan, something would happen to that medal. "It got lost," to put it in urban vernacular. It would be 100 years later, and my great, great grandchildren would be telling the story how that medal ended up in their family. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
