You're right, Tom. I'm going to preface my comment with a disclaimer: this is a very long comment that you don't need to read. It's going to have traditional arguments from a conservative-leaning average American, but understand that I want to interact with every single person kindly and respectfully, regardless of disagreements or differences. Growing up my entire life, things were pretty normal and not weird. But something weird began happening within the last 6-7 years. I'm hoping this is a pretty moderate and non-controversial statement, but after thousands of years of everyone just having the shared understanding that according to science, reason, and common sense there is just males and females, if there were more genders than that, then they would have been apparent throughout all recorded history. And on top of that, although a very small fraction of society suffers from gender dysmorphia (which is tragic, and I don't make fun of them, I genuinely want what's best for them and for them to have a happy life), everyone still knows that a male is scientifically a male, and a female is scientifically a female. This is just science, commons sense, and reason. It's not hate, I love and care about my fellow man, there is absolutely no way that I want their downfall or despise them. This was the agreed upon understanding for thousands of years. But within the last 6-7 years, something weird has happened. In progressive society, they now genuinely think that the 2 paragraphs I just typed are hateful, hurtful, and incorrect. But how is that so? What I said was thoughtful, and considerate, not hateful, and it's the truth too. I am not trying to rag on progressives, because even though I'm a solid conservative, I still think that liberals have something to bring to the table, of course. But what I don't understand is how a very factual, down-to-earth, straightforward statement of facts like the one I just typed is now seen as so controversial, hateful, and mean, not to mention completely in err, according to progressive society. I don't really get how all of this developed, but it seems to spiraling quickly. The old adage comes to mind, of, "you give them an inch, and they take a mile." The same line of reasoning that was used to justify many "advancements" in society. "Love is love. I can choose to live as I please, and who are you to say what I'm doing is incorrect or misses the mark? In fact, if you disagree and stand against me, then you are evil and hateful." This was applied in the initial homosexuality movement that finally led to 2015 and the Obergefell case. Then it was applied to transgenderism around the 2017 timeframe. At about the same time, it was used to say that gender is only a spectrum and is based on how you feel, not science, reason, and common sense. I estimate the 2017 timeframe, once again. It is now, currently, slowly but surely being applied to ped0phil@, through the MAPS "community," if something so sinister can be called that. What is next? Perhaps bestiality? I track the line of "advancement" as it has gone on through society, and it is a common theme. It starts by getting just their foot in the door, and they bring in their hideous rear end only at the very end. Once again, the current state of society says that if you disagree with homosexuality, transgenderism, have traditional morals and values, then you are a terrible, vile, evil, hateful, despicable, detestable person. But how so? Everything I have said is courteous, considerate, and very matter-of-fact. I do not sugarcoat the precedence that is set, and how the same arguments are used to justify more and more vile acts. However, I also do have a care and love for each and every person, since they are all important and I value humanity. That means the people I disagree with. There is not an ounce of hatred in my heart, none of it. I disagree sincerely with what they do and they way they interact with society. Even if a person were to feel unsatisfied with their body and wanted to be a member of the opposite sex, that IS what they want, but it is not the TRUTH. What we want isn't the definition of what is real or what is good for us. The truth is one of the most important things to pursue. Truth isn't shaped by how we feel, but simply by the way things really are. An if a person who I care about is missing the mark or living a lie, if I care about them truly, how can I not speak up and say, "that's incorrect sir, this is the way it really is?" If I saw a person who was living a lie, and I didn't at least let them know that they were living a lie, then I didn't really care about them enough to confront them. When a friend is about to become a roommate with a terrible person, who I know will trash the apartment and not pay the rent, then if I cared about my friend, I would say, "that proposed roommate will trash your apartment and not pay rent." If I didn't at least attempt to talk with them about it, then I didn't care about them enough to confront them about it. That is the typical traditional argument. I believe that you have a right to live how you see fit. I also think that you can live a lie, and that is sad. I think that being man enough to confront someone you care about is one of the most loving things you can do for someone, just like when a parent punishes their child, it is because they love them so much, they want to do the hard thing to make them a better person in the future. When a child steals the candy bar from the store, you punish them (grounding, chores, whatever your parenting style) and you make them return it and apologize. It forces them to think about how the store owner was hurt by what they did, and want to avoid the embarrassment of being caught again. Later in life, the child who is now grown, won't steal the $10,000 in accounting because they remembered that stealing is wrong, it's dangerous because you could be jailed, as well as you hurt the people you steal from. In the same way, confronting a friend or person you care about is one of the most loving things you can do. Because the least caring thing you can do is let someone make terrible decisions and you say nothing about it. On the theoretical final judgement day, they will look over at you and ask, "you knew all this time - yet said nothing to me, and let me live a terrible, erroneous lie? You didn't care to at least try to say something?" That's an extreme example, but you get the point. It's not out of hatred that I disagree with you, it's because I sincerely believe that a lie is being lived. But you won't see me being mean to a transgender person. You won't see me bullying a person who thinks they are a 3rd gender. It's about your tone and approach. How can I be said to love someone and care about them, when I act with malice and seek to do them real harm? The method with which you communicate your confrontation must be appropriate. The old adage is "your message was spot on, it was your tone with which they took offense." Unfortunately, in today's society, when I kindly and gently communicate that I do not approve and disagree with the way that one is living, they don't stop to think and self-reflect, they instead turn to me and say that I am hateful and literally hurting them by what I say. This is incorrect, since firstly, sticks and stones, may break your bones, but words can never hurt you. But further more, like I argued earlier, confronting a friend is one of the most caring things a person can do. Anyone can sit and do nothing to a stranger on the street as they get wasted every night. But a person who loves you will say that the alcohol is hurting you and ruining your life. TLDR: I find it strange that only within the last 6-7 years, people have started to say that what was completely understood to be truth is now seen as evil and hateful. I'm talking about how there are 2 genders, and when you are a boy, even if you unfortunately feel that you want to be a girl, it does not change the fact that you are a boy. However, today's society shockingly rages and attacks you for voicing the concern that people are living lies, and that we shouldn't all be running with it. Disagreeing with someone respectfully and standing against someone is not hatred, it is tolerance, but it is also a deeper form of caring for another, because only you were man enough to confront them. The method that you confront them is vital, because if you do so with malice or try to do them harm, obviously the message is lost. But I say the situation we are at in society is weird - but we must continue to stand for the truth, and do so with gentleness and respect.

Many years ago, a girl of the same age (early 20's) invited me to play a game of squash. She had played the game for several years and was known to be a good player. She was very sporty, almost my height with a muscular physique. I on the other hand had never played squash in my life but I enjoyed sports, so gladly accepted her invitation. After she explained the rules, we began to play. Long story short... I absolutely thrashed her. I wasn't as skilled, but I was much faster and could hit the ball a lot harder. Although she was a really nice girl, she took the defeat very badly and never invited me to play again 😂

Reminds me of when our intramural physics team played the girls university team at the invitation of one of their coaches. We draw anywhere from 25 to 100 people typically. The rolling Stones receives about 10 million for one show. That's approximately 2 million per player. I demand equal pay I say. In mixed martial arts point sparring competitions, I was asked by sponsoring dojos and sensei's to have officiated matches with girls from other clubs to help them train. Of course, hold back on brutalizing them, but always tried to keep the score 8-1 or 8-2 to encourage. I did fight a couple girls who genuinely thought they were better so I would start doing 30 or 40% of the power of kicks to legs or shin block them till they understood they were no match. Of course, I would just overwhelm them with speed but when someone is fighting irresponsibly and have too much hubris. Some girls are fast, but it's easy to demoralize the fighting spirit with using a bit more power in the kicks and punches, regardless boys and girls. However with girls, they on average weaker and less quick. It's very obvious in training when you have to hit 30% or even 20% of power during conditioning not to injure them, and situps, pushups, chinups running and all sorts of physcial training, is just flat out weaker on average.

I first realized how stark the difference in athletic ability between men and women was in high school when I ran cross country. We had the #1 female runner in the state on our girls x-country team, and she pretty handily beat her competitors every time. I was a decent runner that only really enjoyed racing and being part of the team, but usually slacked off when it came to practice and my best placement in the state was about 16th. While I knew our girls team always did well in terms of how they placed, I had never looked at their times and was shocked when I realized that my 5k time was minutes faster than our girls team state champion's time. I still respected her achievement, of course, but that really put things in perspective for me just how uneven the innate physical ability between men and women is.
@garydingle
@garydingle Год назад
So what does this mean? Are you suggesting women should take steroids so they can compete with men? And does your ignorance justify treating women athletes like they are worth 1/3 the value of male athletes? Your observation in high school was accurate, but what does that mean? It means that having male and female competition divisions based on gender is proper. But be careful with term innate because some school districts used similar terminology to create school competition districts divided by race to provide more White children with opportunity to reap the benefits of achievements in athletic competition. White parents favoring the race based division implied that Black children had innate abilities.
@jooohan
@jooohan Год назад
@@garydingle First of all, your questions regarding steroid use and ignorance are ridiculous. The guy just stated his observation in a polite manner (polite to the girls). Now what exactly is value? Isn't it preposterous to pay someone more than the actual value (viewers, ads, more tickets sold, etc.) she/he's generating just because she/he is a woman/man? Overcompensating, much? Take tennis - women get paid exactly the same prize money as men at Grand Slams while playing significantly less amount of hours. So, in effect, women's prize money per hour spent on court is much bigger. I quote: "In total, singles participants shared a record $32.467 million in Melbourne where, like the other three annual slams and several mandatory premier events, the men and women receive equal prize money. The men spent a collective 633.83 hours on court and earned an average of $25,619 per hour each. The women's total court time amounted to 401.54 hours, individually receiving an average of $40,439 an hour - a 63 per cent higher hourly pay rate than the men. As the equal prize money debate continues to rage ahead of the French Open starting on Sunday, AAP has unearthed statistics from the Australian Open that show men's champion Novak Djokovic earned $116,000 an hour less than women's winner Angelique Kerber. And despite his status as a 14-times grand slam champion and global drawcard, Rafael Nadal was the third-lowest earner per hour of the 256 singles competitors at Melbourne Park." Numbers are from 2016 Australian Open. The world works how it works. You generate more money, you usually get paid more. You generate more money in sport by being more interesting to watch, basically. Nothing unfair about that. Overcorrecting and overcompensating this because of gender seems like a rather twisted way to promote equality. If you want to be treated equal, suck up and let the market decide your value. I don't read about men fighting for equal opportunities in porn or for being paid less on Only Fans or whatnot.

I will say that there ARE more people who watch the sport than there used to be. As more people watch, the advertising dollars will increase and in turn so will the purse for the games. And I will admit that the Women's team has had more success than the Men's team; however, I would point to the fact that part of that success is due to other countries that either don't have or don't invest at all in their women's teams. (I find notable is the fact that several countries considered perpetually near the top in the Men's rankings have lower ranked women's teams. Looking at Argentina 28 & Mexico 34.) The success that the US Women's team has enjoyed HAS gotten the sport more attention in the US (everyone likes to hear about and cheer for their winning team); however, more people will watch the Men's tournament to see the non-US teams compete.

A professional men's rugby team playing soccer would find it extremely difficult to beat a men's professional soccer team and vice versa. Does that make one faster, more athletic etc than the other? I’m just going to put it out there, that this was all part of the “great lie” that is always trying to separate us and weaken us. Men and women are different and that is a beautiful thing.

I think it has many reasons, but the two main ones are: 1. If you acknowledge, that men are better at certain things, then it justifies given them more money for the same effort. This is (understandably) rather depressing for some women. Since no matter the effort, they will never get the same success. 2. The strange new trends in the Transgender community and other fringe groups which rely on contradicting physical reality. I personally think though, that the whole thing isn't a "big issue" at all. I have seen more comments about calling these new ideas out than supporting them. And I think the majority of the population does either not know, not care about or not support these idea (in that order).

A male archer here, ranking 4th in the California JOAD (Junior Olympic Archery Division), follows the same rules as the Olympics. In Olympic Archery, the South Korean Women's National Team stands as the world's best, exhibiting superior shot placement compared to anyone else. However, it's noteworthy that the women's team shoots at a maximum distance of 70 meters (~77 yards), whereas the men shoot at a longer distance of 90 meters (~100 yards). The draw weight of the women's Olympic team's bows averages in the low 30-pound range, whereas when I was 16, I was drawing 42 pounds. Although that may not initially seem like a significant difference, it becomes apparent in a tournament setting where one must draw that bow around 1000 times. There is a reason women and mean don't compete.

One aspect that never seems to get mentioned is height and the congruent limb-length difference between men and women. THAT, alone, separates top tier athletes even in same-sex events. For example, among men, swim coaches look for swimmers that are tall but with skewed torso-to-leg-length ratios. The longer torso acts almost like a boat hull and gives a distinct mechanical advantage to that athlete. NO MALE SWIMMER argues that point. It is simply a fact.

My high school and college basketball and track coaches made ample opportunity to compete with and against the men and boys. The one rule was men and to take it easy to make sure the women did not get hurt. This was at a time when Title 9 was getting its feet off the ground. Our coaches wanted the girls and women to understand that sports was a physical game and to adjust the thinking of our time. My extremely competitive college team played a local boys high school team. My speed and tempo increased and my level of physicality although very high for a women went way up. I learned so much. The females learned what was possible and the males got a chance to try out new ideas. A win for all. @@LynnRPerry That's actually great to hear. As far as amateur sports goes, co-ed training can definitely benefit both teams. Men's teams can practice other skills and strategies that they may not be well versed in, while the women learn to be much more aggressive than what they may be used to. In relation to OP's story though, it sounds like the woman's college team and the 13 yr old boys team were not looking for a collaborative training session. The women picked a fight for whatever reason and lost. I don't think co-ed training would work very well at the highest levels of competition though. The women's team would hit their physical limits (which they should already be at if they're in that level of competition anyways) while the men's team gain nothing when they can win simply through the differences in physicality. At that level, even trying new ideas doesn't really work since it's not being tested on similar competition. They wouldn't be able to identify what actually worked because of the idea itself, and what the actual weaknesses of the ideas are.

I was a really good soccer player in my youth. I am American, but grew up in Saudi Arabia, so soccer is the main sport there. I have played in the States, Australia, middle east, I have seen all levels of play. Women's soccer is not bad, but you can not compare it men's soccer. They are almost different sports in the same way that American Pocket Billiards and snooker are related, but vastly different. Lazy passes back to the goalie you can get away with in women's soccer because no one has the speed to intercept them. The men just run so much faster that it completely changes the pace of the game and what you can get away with doing. I could go on forever about the differences, but I think the bigger question is, 'why are women's sports failing to connect with other women and young girls?' That is their audience. If they could generate a substantial fanbase in that demographic, money would not be an issue. If young girls wanted to see the women play, I promise you every father would be lining up with his money in hand to buy a ticket or the cable t.v. package that included it.

You're messing with OTHER people's lives and livelihoods. It's simply not fair, it's VERY freaking obvious and it's a fact - FULL STOP

I've played handball here in Germany for a while. Especially in the beginning - I was 15-16 y/o - we sometimes had "mixed" tournaments or "friendly games". Quite often the girls team was older or in a higher league than our team. The result was always the same: total humilation of the girls and them not taking rules too seriously (grabbing in our arms from behind during the throw, scratching and ramming their knees in our thights at the 6 m circle etc.). The referees were biased (not one single 2 min. penality for the girls despite their dirty moves). We were often holding back to not hurt them and we mostly were not throwing the ball with full power. I never did get the point of such tournaments. Normally you are there to compete and not to play at 50% of your capabilities just to not hurt somebodies feelings..

They believe what they want to believe... what makes them feel good. Typical feminist: "A women is better than a man at everything." Ask them to prove it first. Start with the UFC or every Olympic record in track & field and swimming, ladies, and be honest about what criteria you use for "better than" so it is honest and objective, like being world chess champ, for example... earning that.

@@DexterHaven So - a woman HAS to beat a man to be paid evenly by her National team or sport sanctioning body in international competitions? That's your argument? Why do we even have gendered competition then? What's the point? Gezus. It's why women think men are dense as wood. Your argument is lazy, boring, unintelligent and mostly worthless on the merits.

This reminded me of that guy ( 203rd-ranked German Karsten Braasch ) who beat Serena Williams and Venus Williams, after they claimed that no male player outside the top 200 could beat them."I didn't know it would be that difficult. I played shots that would have been winners on the women's circuit and he got to them very easily," said Serena."They wouldn't have had a chance against anyone inside the top 500 because today I played like someone ranked 600th to keep it fun," was Braasch's assessment. The end.

And to further emphasize your point, I'm pretty sure those 7,000 men are only counting races in World Athletics. Meaning races in college, high school, etc. don't count among the 7,000. I live in Tennessee and the Tennessee boy's state 100m record is 10.33 seconds ran in 1985. FloJo's record that has stood since 1988 is 10.49.
