it's definitely a coach problem but also the players are not there at all. They pushed an aggressive style that only wasted time because Uruguay answered with the same energy and pushed even harder, the passes were not there at all, there wasn't cohesion but also there weren't good single plays, there's no team lider. I don't know shit about soccer/football. However, what I see in the USMNT team are a bunch of great athletes, but not great soccer players for the exception of Pulisic is it? Meaning ball control and touch precision passing is not there. And because of that lack of skill, they play cautious and slow if you will, scared to lose the ball, because they don't have the confidence in their own ability to play fast or take "risk" like the Latin/S American Teams.
