@geraldkohar
@geraldkohar 8 дней назад
US government has a very high pride and dont want their tech to lose to China. So they will have to claim F22 is better no matter what, even if the facts tell otherwise, because their pride will crumble if they have to admit it. So that's why they make this kind of video to make such statement without doing any deep or thorough research. So is F22 better than J20? My answer is: could be, but I think we can only know the answer for real after they face each other in real combat, fought by at least 5 different very good fighters. Until then, let's just say they are tied.

@OldSkuleNerd
@OldSkuleNerd 14 дней назад
@@knowingyourmind well ok. 1- it takes more than the ability to detect an aircraft and a missle to shoot down any fighter much less an f22 you have to have high frequency relay data to develop a probability/kill ratio high enough to justify the launch other wise you are firing blindly… many low frequency radar sets can detect any object in the sky but to have an P/K solution to hit a moving object you need a high frequency as the object is moving in angles and speeds that require multiple adjustments in real time, Most countries have the ability to detect an f35 or even an F22 as in they know it’s there but to plot an intercept…. Even we can’t do it… we tried that the Aegis system which is basically the best we can offer currently was able to plot only THREE PK SOLUTIONS. In over 200 engagements with F35 in drills and none with F22 That’s one… and it’s documented… 2-the J20 has the rear cross section and heat signature of an SU37 as it’s power plant is identical to it so on a patriot battery, THAAD, or aegis it roughly looks like a Fiat 500 3- canards do not generate lift they provide stability due to cross section forces at low speed with a clipped Diamond wing which is the F22 it’s very unstable the f22 overcomes this the same way the B2 and B21 overcome the flying wing design with 3 computers that just made slight aeronautical adjustments in real time…. The J20 cannot do this so similar to the Euro typhoon it has canards to stabilize it… resulting it higher radiation crossection Btw the f22 has a computer onboard that has one purpose… to not let the pilot do any flight path change that will cause the aircraft to imply G forces which are lethal to the pilot That’s three all are unclassified data presented by the Airforce and joint nato command after evaluation of the F22 program cancellation in 2017

1. When he talks about Radars he should be talking about how powerful the radars that those jets carry, not how difficult they can be detected by other radars. That's still stealth. J20 has the most advance gallium-based radar. 2. Speaking of maneveurs, he said he didn't have too much data and he said Chinese jets are unimpressive. If you have not enough data, you shouldn't be so conclusive, let alone, so subjective. 3. He is wrong about the engine too. J20 has been equipped with a new and far more power engine WS15. He needs to get his data updated. All in all, he speaks from many subjective opinions based on outdated data, and neglects many key elements. Not a quality video.

In respect to maneuverability, The ws15 hasn't replaced the ws10 yet, its still very early on in limited adoption. Even then, by looking at the j20s aerodynamic design, its gonna lose a dogfight to the f22 which has much lower wingloading and thrust vectoring. We havent seen thrust vectoring applied to the ws15 equipped j20s yet.
@strangewayfaringstranger
@strangewayfaringstranger 12 дней назад
"One of its earliest versions of a domestically designed engine, the WS-10A, regularly broke down after just 30 hours of use. The main difficulty lies in the metallurgy and machining. A single engine on a civilian Boeing 747 airliner, for example, has at least 40,000 parts. Temperatures in that engine can reach as high as 2,500 degrees Fahrenheit, and its fan blades can spin well over 3,000 times a minute during an hours-long flight. Blueprints for such an engine can be copied, but the secrets to producing and shaping metal parts that can withstand those temperatures and spin at such tremendous RPM over thousands of hours - not to mention external factors like wind resistance and corrosion - without breaking aren't easy to find."

J-20 is the most agile fifth-generation aircraft, and will eventually be on the turbofan 15, now the air combat is not close combat, will not give you the opportunity to close up. The J-20 is ahead of the F22 in terms of avionics and situational awareness, and its air-to-air missile PL15 has a far greater range than the F22's AIM120 and has a dual-pulse engine. As for the f35, the biggest enemy of the f35 is not the J-20, but the anti-stealth technology and modification potential. The J-20 is also the first in the world without stealth, but the f35 is embarrassed, even because of the common shock of the tail can not supersonic cruise. Then, all the actions the F22 has done, the fourth generation can do. The maneuvering performance of the f22 displayed by the j20 at the Zhuhai Air Show in 2022 simply cannot be done, and there are videos of that day everywhere. Americans like to brag, at the beginning also said that the f22 lift coefficient 2.0, when the Chinese really built the j20 lift coefficient 2.0, only to find that the f22 only 1.5 lift coefficient.

I'm more curious about how much of the data both fighters are reliable vs. educated guesses. All countries lie and should lie about their weapon capabilities both overselling and underselling them for various reasons. As well as the fact that I'm sure Chinese government has more detailed info on American weapons and vice versa, but those details are never getting leaked to the public. So it feels like there's not even a point to comparing these fighter jets. Because even beyond their capabilities, their numbers and usage also factor into things. Cause if there is to be a China-US conflict, it would happen with an invasion of Taiwan next door to China, rather than both countries bring all their stuff to middle of nowhere and decide to fight on equal terms.

Your along the right lines here, sort of. Everyone lies about their military, but differently. Because they are similar we'll group together china/russia. Those 2 lie and have been seen adding zeros behind different equipmet. Just grossly overstated. Theres a lot of reasons but comes down to a few points. Selling military equipment. That is a very large part of their economy. This goes to countries unable to secure western weapons due to money, sanctions, barred by political concerns. They don't have anyone else to turn to. The chinese are more entrepreneurial. Through various methods of aquiring/stealing western designs and reverse mfg them. To the best of their abilities. When you look at commerical ip theft and the quality of those, it doesnt inspire confidence. But they go to intl arms shows, get booths next to western defense companies and sell copies of theirs at a fraction the price, but with exaggerated capabilities. They may look like ours, but arent even close real world. Getting back to the org question, theres 3 answers. To sell arms, to show their citizens they are superior, and last info warfare with the west. Bluffing to keep everyone at bay. I think russias experience in ukraine has exposed a lot of this already. But they both still benefit by lying all over the place with any chance they get. Heres were the us differs. We undersell our secrets. Speed of aircraft carriers, range of missiles, rockets, planes, armored vehicles etc etc. this is evident in some items in ukraine. Like when they dropped 10 russian aircraft in a week. You think they moved a patriot battery across a hundred plus miles of the most covered land on the planet? Course not, the russians just found out those sams have a bit longer legs than we ever said. So yeah we lie. Its just different than the guys bragging how elite and unstoppable they are. We do because we can lure more in easily to eliminate.

His conclusion is largely true between the J20 enter the service in 2017 and F22. It is a remarkable win for the U.S , considering F22 entered the service back in 2005. However, J20 has an advantage that , it continued to be produced and improved overtime while F22 production line was closed permanently. There are several iterations after the first batch of J20, notably the new engines WS15 and rumored GaN AESA, this accompanied by the increased production pace (100-120 per year) and better ranged Air to air missile (PL15) . The conclusion of this video may not be so true now.

1) J20 has much better radar (GaN AESA). During the time F22 was developed, GaN radar hadn't invented yet. 2) J20 has better electronic. The chips on F22 was intel 586 level. 3) J20 has better missile. Before deployment of AIM-260, USA dont have a missile that can match PL15. In the mean time, PLA already has the PL17 ready. 4) J20 certainly can supercruise. The WS10C engine currently equipped on J20 already has the supercruise capability not to mention the WS15. 5) F22 lacks EOTS and EODAS, which are crucial when facing stealth fighter. 6) J20 has much larger range. The only short comings of J20 I can think of are: 1) J20 does not have autocannon 2) J20 does not have the 2D TVC Engine which affect maneuverability. Due to the canard design, maybe J20 does not even need a TVC engine. both of them are less important in BVR fighting.

The F-22 isn't even the most advanced American stealth fighter. The F-35 while less cool looking and less famous than the F-22 is 10 years newer with more advanced systems. The U.S military also has nearly six times as many F-35s as it does 22s so in a potential conflict between the U.S and China a fight between F-35s and J-20s is a much more likely fight. The AirForce is working on restarting production of F-22s and wants a modernization program but that is a long way.

The goal of China isn't to invade other countries, but primarily to ensure its own safety. If you look at the history of China, you'll find that they don't invade other countries. People talk about Taiwan but even the US acknowledges that Taiwan is a part of China. The US doesn't have the capabilities to defeat China in a head to head should it happen, despite having superior hardware at this point. What the US really should be worrying about isn't having bigger guns, but the economy and the wellbeing of its people. Being $35 trillion in debt means time is running out. The interest alone is in excess of $800 billion a year.
@Jewdah18
@Jewdah18 14 дней назад
This is super disingenuous. For much of modern history China was to poor/weak to have an expeditionary force and was being conquered/controlled by Japan and Western Powers. As they become richer, stronger, and nationalistic, its not clear what they'll want to do. The U.S. doesn't recognize Taiwan for the sake of stability in that region but it is the main provider of arms to Taiwan. Japan and the U.S. will absolutely support Taiwan over China because Taiwan has TSMC. Technically no nuclear powers have the ability to defeat each other given how destructive nukes are but there is no evidence that China has the capabilities to defeat a U.S. led alliance (Japan, South Korea, Philippines and others) that uses all of the tech in the U.S.'s arsenal. The entire world's economy rests on the U.S. navy ensuring that international waters stay international to ensuring safe shipping lanes for trade. Also military innovation and production helps the economy. The US debt is atrocious but most of it is owned internally and most of the foreign debt is owned by allies. With the U.S. still being the reserve currency of the world and the strongest country, it is not so clear that time is running out. Meanwhile pay no attention to China's population pyramid which is definitely not a ticking time bomb.

@@Jewdah18 It really isn't the job of the US interfere with other countries through the weapons trade. It's done so for the past few decades extensively in the middle East, South America, Cuba, USSR, Thailand and now Taiwan, Ukraine and Palestine. The result is millions of unnecessary deaths (Close to 5 million deaths post 9/11). Some countries like Laos are still littered with millions of bombs left by the US decades ago. The only reason the US is interfering is for its own interests. When it was convenient, the US actually funded China to fight against Japan. China was actually one of the wealthiest countries in the 18th century and was neither poor nor weak - accounting for up to 30% of the world's GDP. They have also surpassed the US in GDP parity by 30% today and removed its entire population from poverty. I frequently travel to both the US and China for business and I can tell you from my own experience that the US is decades behind in terms of development. Look at the rail infrastructure and it's like the US is living in the stone ages. I'm from Australia but I lived in NYC in the Jersey area for 5 years of my life (I studied in NYU) and every time I go back I see so much more poverty. The place where I used to rent is now surrounded by tents with homeless people. Meanwhile the government is shipping 200 billion dollars worth of weapons to Ukraine. I don't think this is the right direction.
@Jewdah18
@Jewdah18 14 дней назад
@@sodazman My point about weapons was in response to your assertion that the U.S. should focus solely on the economy. The U.S.’s complicated history in sharing weapons doesn’t change the fact that developing and manufacturing weapons tremendously helps the U.S. economy. Especially if those weapons contribute to U.S. maritime supremacy which guarantees safe shipping lanes and lower global trade prices. I also think that it is easy to be cynical about the U.S. only interfering for its own interests. Obviously, it is in American interests for Ukraine to remain sovereign and weaken Russia, but the people of Ukraine still deserve freedom. As bad as Iraq was, the U.S. invested a ton of money in trying to create a democracy (which also was in America’s interest). The will to do the right thing can be there even if the reality doesn’t allow that to happen. China throughout history has been one of the wealthiest/strongest empires. But starting in the 19th century till now there have been many foreign countries that have imposed their will on China. Those events still influence how China acts today. While China is way less impoverished than they were 30 years ago, China’s current GDP per capita is ~$12.7k whereas the U.S.’s is $76.3k. I agree that the U.S.’s infrastructure is bad and needs massive investment but looking at the rail system is not fair. Most Americans would rather drive or fly and have never cared about having trains. Poverty in the U.S. is an embarrassment, but it’s wrong to think that it is should stop aid to Ukraine. Many of the weapons that the U.S. gives Ukraine are either prebuilt and/or about to expire. I guess a homeless person would be less homeless in an Abrams tank, but I don’t think that’s a good idea.

This guy analysis is meant for kintergarden audiences who know nothing about the J20 and F22A. First of all the new J20B w WS15 engines w higher thrust to weight ratio and overall thrust than the PW119. WS10C engine can allow the J20A to supercruise at M1.5 and the new WS15 can allow the J20B to supercruise at M1.8. Besides the guy didn't mention the F22A doesn't helmet mounted sight, can't do network warfare, doesn't have ETOS and Long range infra red detection capabilities..... etc which the J20 have crucial in combat against stealth aircrafts. J20 radar w much more advance T/R modules than the APG77 used by the F22A hence has longer detection range and better anti-jamming capabilities. Besides the PL15 has 50% more range than the AIM120D which means the J20A/B can detect and shoot down the F22A long before the raptor can detect and fire upon the J20, The USAF is betting on NGAD against the J20 and that tells U which is better. LMAO!!!

The F-22 lags far behind the J-20 in all technical capabilities, such as Stealth(J-20 has used next generation lefthanded metamaterial stealth material), Maneuverability(WS-15 engine performance data is ahead of F-119 engine), Supercruise(1.8 Mach super cruise speed, Maximum speed 2.8 Mach, even 2.55 Mach only with WS-10C engines), Advanced avionics, including low-probability-of-intercept radar (LPIR)(latecomer advantage with third generation semiconductor gallium nitride technology), Networked data fusion, enabling situation awareness on the battlefield(Latecomer advantage, Radar, IRST, EOTS, EORD). And air-to-air missile dual pulse solid fuel engine technology, the PL-15 has a far greater range than that of the AIM-120D. The core processor of the F-22 uses a 500nm technology node PowerPC 603 chip, while the core processor of the F-35 uses a 90nm technology node PowerPC 7448 chip. The core processor of the J-20 is reportedly based on a 28-40nm process chip. The first GaN radar prototype for the U.S. military produced by Raytheon was first installed and tested on April 29, 2021. Therefore, both the F-22's APG-77 radar and the F-35's APG-81 radar are second-generation semiconductor GaAs technology radars. The APG-77 has 1956 T/R modules with a peak power of 20 kW, while the APG-81 has 1676 T/R modules with a peak power expected to be lower than 20 kW (due to second-generation GaAs technology). The J-20's KLJ-5 radar has approximately 2200 receive/transmit T/R modules, with a power output of around 100 kW as reported by the State media CCTV, which can only be achieved by third-generation semiconductor GaN technology power devices. This implies that under equivalent other conditions, the detection range of the J-20 radar could be 50% greater than that of the F-22 and F-35 radars. Consequently, the original plan of the U.S. military to start upgrading the core processors TR-3 and radar APG-85 for the F-35A Block 4 Lot 15-17, which was accelerated to 2023, has now been postponed again, and it is uncertain when the upgrade will enter service. According to CCTV data, the fuel consumption rate of the turbofan WS-15 without afterburner is 0.67 kg/daN/h, and the fuel consumption rate with afterburner is 1.98 kg/daN/h. The fuel consumption rate of the turbofan WS-10C without afterburner is 0.85 kg/daN/h, and the fuel consumption rate with afterburner is 2.2 kg/daN/h. The fuel consumption of the F119 without afterburner is 0.9 kg/daN/h, and with afterburner on it is 2.4 kg/daN/h.

The actual matchup would surprise you. F22s were designed in the 90s with 90s era computers and sensors. They are out of production and are steadily being retired meaning their numbers will dwindle while J20s are still being built and improved upon. The latest version of the J20 has 360 degree infrared sensors that can passively detect other stealth fighters without even having to turn their radars on. Its the same tech used in the F35 which has beaten F22s using just that method. J20s also have a modern datalink which allows it to spot targets for each other and other PLA fighters, F22s have to rely on their own radars to engage targets meaning they can't remain radar silent when attacking. Finally, the age of the airframes also makes a massive difference. Stealth coatings age just like anything else. Worn stealth coatings from 2 decades of use are significantly less stealthy than something fresh out of the factory. Not to mention the J20 was designed using much more modern stealth coatings after seeing the headaches the F22 causes when it comes to maintaining said stealth coating.

nope. Soviet collapses so the US had no reason to make F22s anymore.

lol western subjective bias against the J20 - by your own admission, you said you don't know much about the J20 and it's all your own guestimates, so how can you fairly compare without knowing all the technical specs of both aircraft??

Poor explanation. All stealth fighters can be located by low band radar arrays. But they are hard to get a weapon’s grade lock.

Fun fact about J20. In the west China Sea in year 2022, Philippines Air radar defense detected this aircraft in 180 nautical miles in bajudimasinlok island territory of the Philippines. And it was intercept by the Philippines Air Force, by a 4th generation fighter jet which is FA-50. And you know what's more funny our aireal radar defense was bough in the Japan way back in year 90's, and they proclaiming that this is a 5th generation stealth fighter jet even the pilot of the FA-50 have a picture of the jet while intercepting it very stealthy good job China. 😂😂😂

The J-20 looks cooler than the F-22 IMO, though the F-22 is more iconic.

Raptor needs upgrades. A really impressive jet, which appeared at the wrong time! I would rather say that the F-35 can be compared with the J-20
