I think something else you need to add is that there are more Natural Foods in Germany then there are in the u.s. the foods are artificially enhance. The one thing that I don't like is processed American cheese and or processed Swiss cheese because it has no flavor. For example, I used to like swiss cheese in Germany which is naturally aged cheese. In the USA, it's processed and has absolutely no flavor. It's not that you can't get real cheese here but you have to really work at it.
@@KimCrossesBorders When I travel with a group in the USA, we get our breakfast and a warm meal in the evening from our journey-operater on the camping-side (www.rotel.de). But if you are searching for a little snack in the noon (in Germany I would go to a bakery and buy a Mettbrötchen or a Hörnchen) in the US that is really difficult to find. Mostly there are no bakeries and the smallest thing the fast food restauants offer is a cheeseburger with fries... That is why I mostly habe 3 kilograms weight more after some weeks in the US (similar to my visits in the UK, in England they eat a lot of thick Sandwiches and sweet pudding afterwards ). ;-)
I agree. In the US it's sometimes pretty hard to find a non-Fast Food/ or non-unhealthy restaurant or chain. Lots of places have good salads or even salad bars. But I wish there would be a little more variety as nobody wants to be eating salad all the time.😅 I definitely gained weight since I am here 🙈
you probably dont care but if you are bored like me during the covid times then you can watch pretty much all the latest movies and series on InstaFlixxer. Been streaming with my gf these days =)
Not greening a takeaway would be a niche in the market. Changing that is ultimately up to the people themselves. Let's take a trip through time to Germany. When I was a child, there was the supermarket COOP, it was in the 70s. The special thing about it was that they had a large restaurant behind the checkout behind heavy plastic doors. So that you could go to the restaurant after paying, and the door was sealed off from the stress of entering. You could look for many balanced foods with the tray. From meat, salad and drinks. But that all changed in the mid-1980s. The fast food was more and more popular and so the Szradegie was changed and the restaurant as it was, closed and moved to a smaller tavern. If you ask why? They say that's how people wanted it. One has adapted to the trend as well as, folks! It is also known that Germany is 15 years behind in trend in America.
In the US you have processed cheese where in Europe you have naturally aged cheese. Naturally aged cheese has much more flavor. Besides the fact naturally aged cheese if you have mold on it you can just cut it away and the rest of the Cheese's still fine that's not true with processed cheese.
In the US HFCS is usually used to sweet. HFCS is much sweeter than the same amount of sugar and it is even cheaper (at least in the US). Therefore it is much easier to make candies and patries sweeter. But pure fructose should be seen more critical than regular sugar (cane sugar or beet sugar), which is also not healthy. My asumption is that many companies love to fill their food with cheap ingredients and HFCS is cheap. Germanys equivalent to HFCS as cheap filler is lactose it is unnecessarily put in everything possible. I just can only say: RTF-ingridients list
heared about expads students that gained weight in germany. due to yummy german foods like bread. could also be because germany is a place for both work and relaxing. its more 50/50 in germany (europe) than in the us. you are not as stressed out and your body is working better with absorbing the foods. ( witch is a bad thing in modern socity where you dont have a lot of psycical labour. )
@@Kessina1989 im not talking about turists here. Im talking about people staying in germany for about 1 year or more. my comment wasent about. lets try all this delisious food within a week. and top it of vith icecream everyday.
Hey sweetie, how are you? It's a really interesting topic. Fast food or Junk food are mostly cheaper and like the word say's, there is no work to prepare it. End that's one of the biggest mistakes, but not only in the US. In Germany the food culture changed more and more in the last 10-15 years. Preparing more food on your own gives people a better feeling about food, what kind of food it is, how it looks and tastes. Food and all the stuff that comes with it should be a bigger part in our education system, going to a farm or a food market should be part of that subject. Seasonal, regional products are the best way help yourself and the nature. The Tax for sugar is on first step but only a few cities in the US have them. Sadly Germany don't have that tax either, hopefully she comes. I have to fight against overweight on my own.
Ah well, you know I'm a big fan of REWE. Their "Deli" is very versatile. I like their desserts they make out of fresh fruits. Lots of salad, vegan and vegetarian stuff, but also the good old Bockwurst. =) The last time I went to McDonalds was like 10 years ago with my nephews. I was shocked how salty those French fries were. Of course my nephew got thirsty a.f.! Anyway, with stores like REWE I can live quite good with my diabetes.
My Austrian perspective: Eating out is "expensive" in that sense that "self cooking" is still a thing and meals done at home (if the person can cook properly) are often better than in restaurants and the actual costs of the ingrediants for those meals are simply cheaper in comparision to what you pay by eating out. To give you a perspective what I mean and which you really can comprehend : Watch this link... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6Dd2CR93Klg.html ..here an Austrian guy makes truely tremendous Burgers all by himself with fresh ingrediants (he even makes the Burger-buns and Ketchup/Mayonaise by himself as well ) ..and the net cost price is - "Will wonders never cease" - just 1 Euro for each Burger...just saying..and then imagine after seeing those what you would have to pay for that kinds of Burgers in a restaurant like MCD/Burger King etc or a regular restaurant which also has Burgers on the menu....and that´s why "eating out" is expensive in a nutshell..
Artificial sweeteners are used to get animals to eat more in order to fatten them up - the body notices sweetness, prepares for sugar, but it's not coming, so it stays hungry. Body positivity isn't just a "yay body!", but it's based on listening to your body, taking care of it, and also going with what "feels right", be it eating something specific or skipping a meal, sleeping naked, consciously experiencing all the sensations on your skin, down to the lightest touch, accepting your own body or getting the false parts fixed - don't forget the trans community, they have to accept the wrong body to stay healthy enough before they can get things made right until their body matches their identity, which is when they start flourishing and being really positive about their body (in my experience - they fought for their body, and they take really good care of it). Bugger, I've drifted off into LGBTQI* territory (which I hadn't intended), but my trans friends mean too much for me to leave them out, even though I hope I didn't misrepresent them.
