Well where does that ring placement comes from. Left hand: the very first references for wearing "the ring as a commitment for Love and Life-Partnership" on the left ring-finger are from the ancient Egyptians who believed that through that particular finger goes the socalled "love-vein". That thinking was then adapted by the ancient Greeks followed by the ancient Romans and was simply a common believe for many centuries till the Christian religion came up.. Right hand: That was brought up very early by the western catholic church refering to a bible verse which says "All good comes from the right side" and also simply to vanish that in their view "pagan left finger believe". BUT after the western Christians split up into Catholics and Protestants centuries later the Protestants decided to wear the ring on the left hand again simply to break with "Catholic traditions" and to build up a "Protestant tradition" For instance my Grandparents from my mother´s side had different denominations and both although not very religious sticked to their denominational ring-traditions so the ring- situation in their marriage was therefore so that my Granddad who was Catholic wore his ring on the right hand while my Grandma who was Protestant wore her ring on the left hand. But today religious tradition isn´t that big deal anymore for many people..So therefore people often just wear the ring on the for them more comfortable side or don´t wear the ring on a finger at all ..at least I know a bunch of people who are wearing their engagement/marriage rings on a necklace because they generally "hate" respectively it is for them very uncomfortable wearing rings on fingers...just saying
