(you came in for simone) and now your bashing on these olympians a few days after you said “wow I’m so proud of them!!!” in this video? Insane.
@@chassisluther3325 MyKayla was one of two individual specialists in 2021 (along with Jade, who qualified for her spot outright prior to the Olympic Trials). The teams only had four people that year. MyKayla did not initially qualify for vault finals due to the "two per country" rule. When Simone dropped out of the vault final, MyKayla took her place because she was the next highest qualifier and was no longer ineligible due to two Americans qualifying ahead of her (Simone and Jade). Simone did not choose for MyKayla to replace her.

In every final there is a list of the people participating in the final, and a list of alternatives based on their scores in the qualifications. Mykayla was the first alternative, since she had the 4th highest qualification score but got herself out of the final because two Americans had a higher score than her, since only 2 people from the same country can go to the final. Get your facts straight, if any other girl had a better score than Mykayla, she would have been at the final instead of Myk, when Simone withdrew. Get your facts straight next time you decide to comment.

MyKayla stepped in for Simone because she placed 4th in qualifying for an 8-woman field. The only reason she was not on the roster for the final in the first place was because Simone was 1st and Jade was 3rd in qualifying, and only 2 per country can advance to the final. When Simone stepped out, MyKayla stepped in. It is as simple as that. Athletes canNOT "choose" who they want to step in for them. AT ALL.

All team members and individuals could compete in all events during the Olympic qualification round. Simone and Jade qualified to the eight-person vault final. MyKayla did not qualify due to the rule of allowing a maximum of two gymnasts per country in the final. She became eligible to compete at the vault final when Simone pulled out.

I’ve always appreciated your gymnastics content. I think you’re great and a nice person. However, you do have the tendency to put your foot in your mouth and say hurtful/problematic things that you don’t even realize are hurtful/problematic. Please look outside your circle and ask for a publicist to help. You have the ability to reach a lot of people. You should take advantage of that before it’s gone. No one will hire you to commentate when they hear this. As a subscriber, I’m bummed for you and am hoping you can right the ship.

I happened to watch Skinner's both video watching-along's... and after her second video, which she said, God, I can't believe it... SOME GIRL could fall off and stilled got second place, etc.... I immediately posted a note, telling her that while I concur with her about her other points, especially about the COMMUNIST-AUTHORITARIAN approach by Martha and her husband as well as the approach by the current Communist Chinese.... which demanded that NO ONE should smile, or talk, or try to help one another, in front of Martha or the Chinese Communist coaches... and all must be walking with their heads down, in a straight line, etc....I said that Skinner's "some girl (Suni Lee) fell and still got second spot" comment was very weird, since SHE KNEW LEE as a former teammate.... Not only that, but Lee WON the Tokyo Olympic AA Gold... so, despite Biles health issue, America got to retain the AA Medal for a 5th straight Olympics... Further, I said it's not Lee who fell, that Biles too fell... and if Biles, Lee, and Chiles all fell and NO ONE ELSE ---- none of those who stuck on all apparatuses ---- could out score them, then it meant Biles, Lee, and Chiles were, over-all, stronger or more skilled than the rest... Anyway, I guess she didn't like that... so my post from this video also was deleted.

Her reputation has always been one of complaining when things don't go her way, of racist behavior and of not being well-liked by her teammates. She's a spoiled brat, by her own admission, and never learned how to treat others with respect and blames everyone else for her disgusting behavior.
I hope you apologize for your negative comments you voiced! You act like you never fell or had a bad performance! Instead of saying ‘you think/feel’ the other gymnasts besides Simone don’t work as hard why not just congratulate them and be positive about the team! The comments she made were about Olympic athletes that beat her everytime. She went as an alternate and ONLY got that medal because Simone had to stop competing.

She was in one of the two specialist spots, which were separate from the four-person team. For Paris, they went back to five-person teams with no specialist spots.

Simone didn’t throw her a bone , she could not compete. She was her replacement because she couldn’t compete. Lucky for USA because she brought home a silver medal otherwise zero on that event.

If you asked me, I would tell you that unfortunately Sune did not look healthy in her previous competitions . I am very concerned about her health . And no- it is not body shaming . 2) I would tell that this selection was the least competitive with quite many mistakes . As far as I remember the athletes were supposed to show consistency during several competitions . As of right now that aim was not achieved . And no, that is not disparaging . It is a fact . I don't think it was intended to body-shame. While it definitely came out the wrong way, I think it's pretty clear that her comment intended to compliment Suni for her impressive floor routine. She also never said Suni looks bad or unathletic, just that she wouldn't have pegged her for a gymnast, but maybe for some other sport.

Wrong. McKayla was chosen to be an individual to compete in Tokyo. She did not compete with the team because she was not one of the selected four. She did however earn a medal in the vault event finals because Simone had to drop out due to the mental health issues she was having.

Me too girl! I rooted for her hard. This whole thing just totally changed my views on her. It’s sad that a young woman so pretty and smart turns ugly because of the sword in her mouth. Well, learned my lesson on rooting for and supporting people like her. I'm embarrassed and ashamed to say I ever was a follower or big supporter of hers. I gave her so much grace for her comments over the yrs, but she has just continued to put her foot in her mouth over and over again. She really screwed the pooch this time. I remember being SO disappointed at her racist comments after I realized she did what she did to Gabby yrs prior, but I stuck around (almost didn't then) and cheered her on...not anymore. Once was a mistake... multiple times is a CHOICE! I didn’t watch the now-deleted video, but I’ve seen the negative comments, and as a long time fan of your journey at the U of U and your Olympics comeback, I must say I agree with your backlash. I don’t know how any elite gymnast who makes it to the US Olympic Trials can be questioned for their lack of “work ethic”. You of all people know how brutal and difficult the sport is. Thank you Olympic Committee. You choose the right women's team, unlike the men's side. Not sure why criteria is different with men's side. The criteria should be consistent for both men and women. Go USA
Women's has four events and men's has six. Both only have five team members. Men's could not just take the top five all-arounders unless they happened to encompass a variety of event strengths. The general bars/beam and vault/floor strength in women's is much simpler than composing a men's team for six events.
Honestly, as someone from Utah, it probably has a lot to do with the accent and other name choices in this region. I tried saying it a few times, and, it really is easy to accidentally throw an N in there. And a lot of names in this state end with the enzly sound. I've met so many little girls named something like "Kensleigh" it's ridiculous.

Hezly is not that hard to pronounce. She wasn’t even trying. She was saying it with an A then adding an N at times. If it was a really hard name to pronounce I would understand but it’s really not.
With the 4 girls that will probably do all around in quals (Simone, Jordan, Suni & Hezly) I feel like it's going to be a 2012 situation with 4 girls trying to qualify for 2 spots to the all around, like when it was Gabby, Aly & Jordyn.
Only THREE of them can do all around in quals! 4 can go up on each event in quals. WHY ON EARTH would they not put Jade up on vault and floor in quals?! Hezly will only do bars and beam in quals. The other three will do AA in quals.
Hezly stated her goal was to train towards 2028..that 2024 was a stepping stone regardless of the outcome..she considered herself one of the underdogs but just did her job and it all worked out. ❤
