The University of Southern California has denied its 2024 valedictorian, Asna Tabassum, the chance to give a speech at commencement over security concerns. She speaks with CNN's Abby Phillip. #CNN #News
She speaks humbug.😂 see she has refused to condemn the abolition of the Jewish state. These students are nothing but acid that will tear thru the society fabric
Isn't it interesting that she stands for human rights but has amnesia about October 7? Will she call for the abolishment of Hamas? No! Typical Islamic cognitive dissonance. Smh!
This young lady should write her speech, and publish it, so all can see what the University was too fearful to hear in an open public forum, I for one would like to see a copy.
This young lady’s speech would be about pro palestinian garbage and her support for Hamas, also showing her hate towards Israel. That’s not a good speech. Just like any other muslims, she would be dividing and trying to lie about anything.
Why not have her write the speech and share it with the university to see if there is any hate speech or other points that are contrary to their rules of conduct. But even there she can go off script so the university needs both security and a potential backup plan Now she can say almost anything she wants to say to make the university looks foolish
Graduation speech complaining about a war in another country while her campus is in south central. Maybe worry about what’s right in front of you and make a difference there.
I feel badly for her because she is young and just starting out, and in probably what is her first interview she was being pushed in a certain direction to say something. But so also feel happy that she didn't let herself get bullied and clearly said that she wouldn't give a yes or no answer. I'm proud of her❤
@@cherylbrantley4736 but this young lady wouldn’t admit in the interview. People think for themselves, but it seems like she is one just babble what’s being taught. 😂
Before the attack on Israel there was a anonymous woman's movement in gaza, there were hundreds of anonymous interviews condemning the brutal treatment of girls and women in gaza, I hope those interviews will be released, palestinian protestors, you let many people in gaza down

Bringing in BLM into this for what? Is the opposition from Black people? Why throw Black people under the bus in a situation that they are not at all driving but are rather fighting against? Majority of Black people are supporting Gaza. Because of speaking out in support of GAZA many Black residents are now being punished in their residency programs. Jewish people in Dermatology used Black students support from Gaza as their reason to write a joined later asking for the dissolution of all programs aimed at recruiting Black students into Dermatology just last month. To be putting their future careers at risk to support Gaza then have people like you go on to bash BLM on top of that is absolutely diabolical.
You absolutely can criticize Israel. It’s just that you guys look like a bunch of neo-nazis to a significant portion of the country. Calling for the abolishment of Israel is genocidal. I get why you are upset, but you are also actively failing to recognize the whole picture. Freedom of speech is not freedom from consequences.
That's pretty myopic, considering that arabs and their supporters have built tent cities in some of the best universities in the east. They have done nothing but chant and yell and protest mindlessly.

I’ve read the link that Abby Phillip stated ; it doesn’t say anything wrong, I’ve found that idea might work for Israel and Palestine. But the way CNN framed it made it sound bad .
They framed it in the worst way possible and then try to make her give a yes/no answer to an ill-framed, ambiguous question. Thankfully, she was far too intelligent for the trap, bravo!
@@HaroldPhillipiansyoutube which you just commented on is taking comments down that have some key words that expose israel and go against it's narrative
I am glad they canceled her speech. It shows who they really are and gave her a bigger platform to speak. Rich donors probably pressured the school and they gave in.
This young woman is so impressive, with a fine mind and great skills of communication. Her poise and sharp intellect are rare gifts. I'd hire her in a second!

strange that none of USC's students have been informed by the school of any "serious threats" to their safety, or what to look out for, or of any precautions to take because of those "threats"
Shocking, truly shocking! Almost like it's ummmmm. fucking bullshit. Such an incredibly well spoken woman who I hope becomes a leader in America. You guys desperately need more people like this. "Some of [your Jewish classmates] have said that your selection to speak at their graduation has turned that event into an unwelcome and intolerant environment". If this is true, then those student should be deeply ashamed of themselves. Is this not a textbook definition of racism? Imagine the reverse, somebody saying: "If a Jew speaks, that is unwelcoming and intolerant environment". Simply by the fact of their religion or ethnic background, and that they were allowed to speak? Wow. These "classmates" have some nerve.
When your "valedictorian" posts inflammatory content on their personal social media account that could result in drawing unwelcome attention to your expensive and widely attended high-profile event you have to consider the safety and well being of your guests and the reputation of your institution above all else. It's not that hard to understand. She earned the valedictorian status, but that is it. She gets no say in the decisions of the administration and they owe her no personal consideration for her status. If this event were to go sideways the university would be mired in bad PR for a long time. But if she accepts her diploma without incident and leaves the university in good standing they can turn their attention to the next academic year and the next crop of students looking to graduate and be successful. She has no right to interrupt the flow of the organization.
It is censorship. And if the reason for cancelling her speech actually was security related, that means it was terrorism directed against a Muslim or directed against a citizen based on her political beliefs.
