USCG Inspection on a COI boat 

USCG inspection on Ship of Fools. A certificate of inspection or COI is needed for any vessel that's carrying passengers for hire of more than six people. There is a litany of different regulations and things that we must have on board and abide by to have a properly Coast Guard inspected boat. Railings, life rafts, life rings, and even our qualifications in regards to drug testing and our credentials are different. Every year the boat gets inspected in the water for safety, and we run drills and procedures. Every other year, the boat has to come out of the water for dry dock, and a full inspection of the hall and mechanicals are done. Any deficiencies will be addressed at that time and need to be rectified before the boat is able to sail again.
