Use Grass Clippings in Your Garden For MORE THAN JUST MULCH - No More Composting 

I've been growing my garden for 20+ years. This year, my instinct said to use grass clippings. I can't believe how fast my Corn and Spinach has grown, 1 week! Thank you for sharing to spread in a thin layer, I had to rake my peppers and herbs. I'm going to poor Miracle Grow next week, and it will be outstanding.

I actually use my leaves organic grass clippings hedge row clippings as mulch and fertilizer for my flower beds and trees I surround the base of the trees with grass clippings leaves and hedge row organic compounds It is the best organic fertilizer and moisture barrier on the planet and it provides me with healthy flower beds healthy tree healthy hedges The more of this organic grass clippings leaves and hedge row clippings the healthier my trees and flower beds become remember always more organic leaves Grass clippings and hedge row clippings around the base and trunks of trees and in flower beds not less The more the better because once it decomposes the organic compounds formulate into organic soil and protect the health of the roots God bless

Iowa Zone 5a. I routinely add grass clippings to the garden if I have them, and have gotten good results. This year was so dry that there were no clippings to add, so I used wood chips instead. Wood chips are great for the garden pathway, but around the plants I think I get more even watering with grass clippings. As for the weeds, pile the clippings high enough, and the weeds can't get through. This year I'm going to stock pile leaves to use around the plants. Leaves I can gather from any neighbor. Not so with grass clippings. My neighbors use herbicides for weed control, so I'm afraid of their clippings. No such problem with leaves.

I just finished edging a new garden bed in my back yard and covered it in a layer of compost, and then a layer of fresh grass clippings. I decided not to plant until next week because Tue night's supposed to get in the 40's. The clippings will be dried out by then, is it ok to get the dried clippings into the planting holes, or should I brush them aside? Not sure if newer clippings, even if they're dry, would burn the roots on my seedlings.

Will grass clippings also work for indoor gardening as well?
