I had a 6x6 decorative paper pad that didn't live up to expectations. Once I did a little folding and gluing, those "meh" papers took on a whole new life as a very sweet little trifold journal insert. I'll bet you have some papers you'd like to use up, too - please try this with me!

It was great I felt we were sisters. Same thoughts, same growing up in 60s in midwest, our dresses..with our snowpants on under them when minnesota hit 20* and lower. I am going to make several of these

Oh, Marena, snow pants under our dresses! I forgot about those - what a memory! Mine were green corduroy that always got soggy going through snow drifts, anyway, so really, what was the point? hahahahaha - thanks so much for watching!

Anne I remember those days. When I was a junior, we could wear pants, but they had to be pantsuits. Oh no…no jeans. I graduated in 1971. I love the project today.

Isn't it funny how jeans were just TOO MUCH CHANGE?! I think it's because they were flattering and showed our curves - they couldn't allow THAT! Oh my. Anyway, thanks so much for watching! And for the record, I am usually wearing jeans or yoga pants when I record my videos!

I grew up in Southern California and also went to grammar school in the sixties and we could only wear shorts under our dresses during Santa Ana wind events. No pants here until I was a freshman. Jeans were allowed because I lived in a farming area. So fun to listen to you reminise. Love this idea and will be trying it.

Oh boy can't wait I have a lot of 6x6s.😊❤I like that paper...love mustard color. I got all my 6x6s at thrift shops. Years ago. Don't see them now. I graduated in 1972 and I do remember being able to wear pants but I cant put a year on it. Each state or school district was different. I lived in West boylston Massachusetts at the time😊❤we wore lots of mini skirts that may have prompted the idea😮 I love this so much. Never saw anyone make this😊❤brillant

Cute project! And I, too was in the generation that wasn’t allowed to wear pants to school. My dad was in the Army and when he received orders for Vietnam, my mom moved us back to Kansas (from Louisiana). It was November, the school did not have a cafeteria so you had to walk home for lunch and back. No hills was nice, however that meant when it snowed and the winds blew cause it’s very flat, I walked through 1-2 feet of snow. I could wear pants under my dress but had to take them off once at school. My mom also made my clothes. My sister was almost 10 years older than me, so my clothes were made from “scraps”! Mom was also a fan of rick-rack and buttons. Which she used in very creative ways on my clothes! Then once we could wear pants, bell bottoms became a thing and my mom would make them with two coordinating fabrics - the “inside” of the “bell” would be patterned. Ahhhh the memories! Thanks Anne for walking down memory lane!
@annekenlon
@annekenlon 5 дней назад
Oh, TwilaSue, yes, bellbottoms were such fun and so outrageous - and sometimes we would split open the side seams of jeans below the knee and insert bright fabric to create the bell. Never allowed at school, but fun on the weekends! Thanks for watching!

Susie, thanks so much for watching and for sharing your pants-wearing memories. I think every woman of our generation remembers how freeing it was to suddenly be comfortable as we went about our days! In my working life, I worked for a corporation (in Texas) that didn't allow women to wear pants to work until the mid-1990s, can you imagine? So much time spent by older men deciding what was appropriate for women professionals - ridiculous! Anyway, I'm so glad you're subscribing - thank you so much! We have a lot of fun here!

Great video. I don't know if I would try this technique, but I loved watching and listening to you. Paper calling you so funny. Happened to me in Michael's last week. They had some paper packs, 12x12 50% off. I need more paper like another hole in the head, but it did call to me too. 🤣🤣 I remember not being able pants, then we could and in high school we were able to wear jeans. Let's see I graduated '77. NY State.😊 Fall getting here in NM. Still warm during the day, but nice and cool at night.🌻 Thank you Anne.🤗🌻

What a great project - yeah, I lived in New York State in 1st and 2nd grade (mid 60s) and my mother didn't make my clothes, but also, no pants in school and I remember stuffing my skirt into snowpants in the winter to go to and come back from school - time consuming. I was no longer in the US by high school so didn't make the transition to anything else until I went to college. 😀 I'm going to try to use some origami papers for this one - they're already square also... PS I love how you kept thinking of one more thing to do to it every time you said you were done! Like a good evening with friends when you stand by the door chatting before parting. 🥰
@annekenlon
@annekenlon 5 дней назад
Oh, Judy, you're making me laugh - yes, I have another friend and viewer who likes to kid me about saying I'm done, and then I keep doing stuff - I'm not to be trusted! Growing up, we called that the "Irish Good-bye" - my sweet Irish aunties would take forever to get from the house to the car because they always had more to say and more kisses to plant on our cheeks! Thanks for watching! Fun to remember the puzzling rigidity of the skirts-only years! I didn't plan to talk about that but it seems to have struck a chord with almost everyone!

Anne, lookie what you made! This is so cute! I've been in the JJ world for about seven years and, not that I've seen it all, but I've certainly never seen the likes of these before! Kudos! I was in parochial school from 1st thru 8th grade, so pants were NEVER an option - uniforms head to toe all the way! You said no jeans at first... how about cords? I had to laugh at your story about "Kathy who was wearing pink jeans"... I, too, was an envelope pusher and had the NERVE to ROLL my Bobby socks down around my ankles instead of fold them once (or even TWICE like the bad girls)!! 😂🤔🤔 Ah well, I'd say that, once it was all said and done, I turned out OK in spite of it all! Hugs from the Midwest, USA, MK 🤗❤️🤗

Melinda, what a great anecdote. I thank you for your high school activism! It's so amazing to look back and see what was so controversial then. But in some ways, the achievements the 1970s have been wiped away - so we have to continue to be vigilant! It must have been very exciting for you and your friends to take a stand and plan your outfits that were so significant - again, I thank you!
