Setting up the NuX MG-30 with the Four Cable Method is pretty easy and straightforward, but it does need some explanation if it's your first time doing this. If you haven't done this before, you've come to the right place. The 4 Cable Method enables you to integrate your MG-30 into your hardware amp. This results in a sonic collaboration of analog and digital giving you access to those sweet amp tones.
For this demo I will be using the following
MG-30
Hotone Britwind Legacy
Axetrak Isolation Cabinet.

just got an MG-30 and your videos have been super informative! Quick questions: 1) for the Duo Delay- does it allow you to change delay types I can't seem to make it move beyond the shimmer mode and 2) is there a way to route theDuo delays to mono , I can't hear the second delay just using a mono out. Also 3) is there a way to adjust paramaters on the other delays, e.g. saturaton on the Tape Delay? Thanks again for all your help these are great videos!

Thanks for this and your GREAT playing! As I am using the Steinberg UA22 as my audio interface, enabling me to use 48v phantom power for mic recording, I wanted to go from the mono out of the Nux-MG30 to the in of the Steinberg and into Garageband or Logic Audio. Will that work ok? I have a ton of pedals as well. May I daisy chain them to the Nux? Using Mac OS. Can I keep the Nux plugged into the midi port of the Mac so I can use the Quicktone software while using the audio out of the Nux to the in of the Steinberg? Can both of them function at the same time or do I have to change the parameters in Garageband when changing between both of them if I use the Nux for recording bass and guitar and the Steinberg for all other types of recording?

Not to do with 4 cable method. I've discover you can use the pan delay like a dimension D chorus. Place it at the end of the chain, dial zero repeats and speed. You still get an interesting pan/ modulation. I use this to enhance my stereo live sound. 👍🏼

Hi, just curious, I would like to split my bass signal and send a dry bass signal to my bass amp and I want to send another wet signal to a guitar amp that comprises of a pitch shift of an octave up sent to another pitch shift which adds a perfect 5th to that 1 octave up signal with no dry bass signal then into some distortion so I can send this wet signal to the guitar amp when the guitarist does his solos, to fatten the sound a little as we don't have a rhythm guitarist to do this. Does this unit have these capabilities?

hi mate, cheers for the vid. I am trying to use my NUX within the FX loop of my DSL5, I was hoping to have an OD in front of the S/R and delays / reverbs behind. I have dialed in a tone I want with the dsl (just a cable direct with my Les Paul) Even with every effect turned off , it completely changes the sound of my amp once engaging the nux in the loop, a lot flatter, less presence. I didnt think the NUX would colour the sound until I introduced effects etc. Any idea what I might be doing wrong? Feel like it’s something to do with EQ and volume levels , not sure what to start with the get the original amp tone to come through

May I use the same physical connection scheme (4 cable) or should I go from nux out directly into the amp return? To be more precise, assume I want to leave mg 30 always connected to amp and cabinet , which kind of connection should I use If I want alternatively use physical amp or simulated amp without changing anytime the connection? I tried at first with 4 cable method connected to an H&K tubemeister 18, set stack front as mode, and I got a pretty good decent sound from start. Nice! Everyone else shows HOW to setup 4CM but not how to USE it! Smart, Thanks! Question though - you attached the Output Mode to a Patch. If you change patch the Output mode goes back to 'Studio Direct' right? Also, within that one patch you are working on, can you change the Amp? More specifically, I imagine on a gig or rehearsal I would want to use the 4CM on different songs with different amps and EFX. So probably different patches (or maybe scenes, prob not). Would I then just have several Patches each configured as 4CM, each with it's own Amp and EFX and scenes? Please let me know if that is the way you would do it?

Hi The Pedal Guy! very interesting video thank you! I'm a new NUX MG-30 user and I'm using a nux mg-30 connected with the 4 cables method on an Ampeg 2x12 combo valve amp for guitar , for live use I equipped myself with rather long although of good quality (3x 6mt to reach the amp send,return and input and 4.5mt from the guitar to the pedalboard input), from the tests I'm doing I find that the sound is cut a lot on the high frequencies adnd with so less dynamic even changing output mode and global eq I assume due to the length of the cables, Do you think I would solve it by putting a buffer pedal between the guitar and the modeler? ( like for example a Warwick RockBoard Natural Sound Buffer ) thank you !!

Hi. Two questions. 1. Does it sound different when using shorter cables? 2. Have you turned off the IR/Cab on the MG-30? I assume you want all of the processed audio to come out of the Ampeg combo, correct? If so, then you need to make sure that the IR is turned off, as that will create a muddy sound.

@ThePedalGuy
@ThePedalGuy Год назад
When you use the stack front, you're essentially mixing a preamp into another preamp which can create the thin tones. When you use the stack rear and plug into the FX return, you're bypassing your hardware preamp and EQ and just using the preamp of the MG-30 which in my mind sounds a lot better.

Why not using the MG30 just in the return of you amp and you the amp as a "cabinet" and take benefits of all simulations from the MG30. When using Ampero II is there also a stack front option? Or should I just make a chain with a preamp (instead of amp), and no Poweramp/cab? Also, I don't understand why I always see a noisegate at the start of a chain. Shouldn't that be at the end, gating out all the noise caused by the stuff earlier in the chain?

I have a similar question. I think that in 4 method cable you bypass de preamp of your amp, so you can indeed use an amp block in ampero and just turn off the cab block in the signal chain. But my question is about the fx block in the chain. We have 3 blocks on that fx send, fx return and fx loop. I don´t know which one use and where to put in in the signal chain. There is another option. We can select the output of the all chain to fx send.

I recently read in the manual that in the global configuration there is something relevant: "Use OUTPUT LEVEL to select between instrument output level (Inst) and line output level (Line) for OUTPUT jacks, default is set to Line. Use the instrument level for connecting to amplifiers or other effects equipment. Use the line level for connecting to mixers or audio interfaces" But I still have some doubts about the fx blocks in the chain.
