My mom is on her 3rd RX. In 23 years of buying them, she's never had a single issue, but all 4 of the Audis I've owned in the last 7 yrs have either needed a major repair included but not limited to (new turbos,supercharger or new engine) & it didn't matter if they were new or used. Needless to say when I switched to Lexus a little while ago I still find myself a little schocked but very relieved every morning when I start it up & nothing goes wrong.

Same. Our family currently have 3x Lexus, RX, and 2x NX. The one NX had a fuel pump failure, well known Toyota problem that was recalled, just don’t know why this model (2016) wasn’t recalled while all the others did, the pump cost quite a bit of money spending over $2500 (Mandela land). Never had any issues with the other two in the last 7-8 years, just regular maintenance. My own Volvo xc90 D5 SPA on the other hand, something goes wrong every 5-6 months, warranty has spent over $20k in repairs, new twin turbo, egr, alternator, oil leak, some parts for transmission, infotainment, seats, and many more…. Doesn’t even drive as nice as the Lexus.

I always describe my NX as a RAV4 in a pretty dress. Don't see why that's often seen a negative? All the reliability of a RAV, but nicer. My 2017 has 100k now and anyone who gets in it thinks it's brand new still. Also, shout out to Lexus sales and customer service. I love the joystick system that's in my 2016 Lexus GS450h. No fat fingers on the display, it doesn't look like some ghetto trash glued an iPad to the dash, and the menus are much more comprehensive than in the current system Lexus uses. After driving a UX250h as a loaner car twice, I still haven't found the setting to turn off dual zone climate control in it. And it requires some stupid user account in order to use the satnav. Stupid car journalists kept complaining about the joystick, but it's better than a touch screen if you have fingers with nerves in them.

We have a 2021 NX300 F sport with 30 K. This my wife’s car. I had a 2022 RX350 F Sport. We prefer driving the NX so we sold the NX after 12 months. We are now retired and mostly cope with just the single vehicle I do prefer driving with the Sports + modes selected, as the car is much more responsive, especially the steering. The heated front seats are ideal for geriatric hamstrings. The seats are very comfortable. We have got used to the trackpad. We need to consult the manual frequently, and find the deep dive videos by a lady in Texas (I think) very helpful in explaining the myriad of features, and how to configure them. We drove a number Volvos over the years, several 240s, two 740s, and 2 940s. They were serviced regularly, and handed down to family at around 250 K. Safe, comfortable, reliable and good value with the Volvos, and we expect the same with our Lexus NX 300 F Sports.

Heh, I bought a NX300h today, and it's amazing. Yes, after 100kkm/h the engine grumbles like an ogre - if you're heavy on the pedal - but me and my wife couldn't get over the fact of how silent it was in the car with the stereo off. It's a really fantastic thing and if safety, comfort and reliability is what you want, then look no further. In city traffic this thing is no slouch, it's not violently fast, but it's quite surprising. The engine + gearbox - smooth as butter. That eCVT does make the engine noisy at times, but trust me, you couldn't care less after you experience the luxury and the attention to details in this thing.. It's that good. Thanks a lot for the great review, it helped in purchasing this car. Peace!

I bought a 2016 nx300h with very low mileage for the year. As soon as I saw it I wanted it. The inside is absolutely stunningly gorgeous. Everyone I get in it it makes me smile. It gets an annual service and it has never needed anything. The only thing I’ve replaced is the front wipers. That’s it. I just love the car. I would say it feels like it could do with another gear as it gets noisy when putting your foot down but that’s a minor complaint. My only other beef is the infotainment system which is totally shit. It’s the sat Nav that lets it down What were they thinking of? I’m going to put an after market system in . Google maps is far better. A side issue is the manual. It misses a lot of stuff but I usually find what I want on the internet. I’ll run this car into the ground. It’s a keeper. Will I buy another. YES YES YES.

@User-cb4jm
@User-cb4jm Год назад
It’s sad that a) these Euros that often drive phenomenally haven’t figured out a way to make their drivetrains as reliable as this and b) that at least in the Australian market, we’re stuck with Lexus as the sole reliable Japanese luxury marque. Genesis looks promising off the back of Hyundai’s success, but I’d be much more keen to drive a luxury Mazda or Honda (Acura) than a soft sprung, one gen behind interior Toyota.

been looking for your opinions on this for a while! as a 19 and 21 owner (f sports, gas/petrol, Canadian!) fit and finish are absolutely stuperb. performance is actually up a good bit for the 21 from the 19 due to some updated engine mapping (as per what i was told) and 93 premium fuel. it does ask you if it needs to go when you floor it, but it goes after asking. suspension is on the firmer side, but i appreciate the confidence if i need to punch a corner. interior is done really well since i enjoy tactile buttons. infotainment took a second to get used to, but easy once you take a second to learn it. the sound system is a massive upgrade over the standard sound package. though i would love a smidge more trunk space, its only on those days where my family travels. its also helped while i was in a splint after surgery, so i can attest to front passenger space.

@@Chawklitbabe There are no reliability problems with the CX-5. It’s one of the most popular mid size SUVs in the world. Any car can have problems though. I’m happy with my CX-5. If you get a CX-5 try to get the year model that has wireless CarPlay rather than wired. In Australia that’s the 2023 year model. Here 2024 year model has touchscreen while using CarPlay though I don’t mind using the command dial in the 2023 year model. The turbo has lots of zoom zoom so a non turbo might be very adequate but I haven’t compared the two. Test drive one and see if it feels comfortable, see if seats suit you. NX is the great car. Maybe it is not so proportional appealing as RX. But reliability is great, material quality is good, interior is fine and soft. In Europe existed NX200 with 2.0 naturally aspirated engine and those one is not enough powerful. Sport seats are a little bit tight for me and fake leather in base models is disappointing. But in other aspects NX is a good choice in its segment. The only issue I can remember - peeling apart glass on the center scream, and for some time it was not available as separate part, but now you can change only the glass. And believe me, I have been Lexus service advisor for 11 years.

I live in Europe. Owned an Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Volkswagen. Very nice when new. But they draw you bankaccount after around 6 years. Small engines with turbo are normal these days. I Didn’t like this kind of marriage with these brands anymore so I dicided ‘ to divorce’. Driving currently a 2017 nx 300h F sport. It is the best car I have ever had! I love it for what it is…

I've had a Audi A5 ($20k+ mechanical costs in the last 1.5yrs alone, parts at trade prices too) BMW M335 (last bill was $3.5k), VW Tiguan (last bill was $4.6k) Civic type R (servicing, brakes replaced, that's it) I have way more fun driving a reliable performance jap car knowing it's limits can be pushed repeatedly

Could not get one and six dealers said it would be up to a year before I could get close to the trim that I wanted in the NX350h hybrid. The RX350h was the same. Luckily I obtained an ES300h Ultra Luxury with additional options in mid April. GLTA if you want an NX or RX hybrid, you will have to pay to get on a list and wait!

Hi guys. Great review. I had my Nx for 4 years - great car. Zero problems. Like Adam said - if you want a reliable premium mid sized suv you can’t go wrong. Looked at a new NX last year - very nice. But wanted a change. Gone to a Genesis GV 60 (Electric) Even better than the Lexus. 17k and 9 months so far - zero issues too.

You ask why we don't consider the NX over the X3, Q5 etc. Basically, as you have described it only comes with a 2L engine and it is not a sports SUV in anyway; so just fine if you just want to cruise around without raising your heart rate in anyway. The BMW's and Audi's and Mercedes all come with turbo 6 and even 8-cylinder options. Also, there are diesel options.

Australia is relatively a very affluent country.. I think people are happy to continually do novated leases on new euro cars and net the badge prestige and tech rather than buy more reliable but conservative stuff like Lexus. The brand performs pretty poorly here compared to the US and Japan. I'm glad they are still here though because they are such great used cars.

Lexus every time, although even Toyota and Lexus are using a lot of plastic parts in the engine bay. We have a 2015 IS300h, the only thing to fail was a spark plug. We also (like a lot of other people) had to change the 12v battery during lockdown. If you want to be a boy racer, buy a German Car. You'll see your dealer quite often.
