I measure twice. Cut three or four times. Screw it up . Do a little shimming rigging cussing kick the s… over and say I should have called someone.

One cut, the piece he cut he turned around and put on the bottom.

You can cut it three times and it's still short.

He was marking the direction to begin the cut to make sure he got the correct angle. When moving boards to cut them, sometimes you get interrupted, move the board, or a dozen other things, and this step helps you keep track of where you are at when you made the mark. Not saying this is what a carpenter would do, but not bad for a DIYer.

Not sure if they plan to leave it there or if it was just used as a temporary support. If used as a temp support just to drive the screw in the top board without the board "dropping lower", then after running the screw in the top, he can back it out, then remove the temp support and then secure the board this time with the "screw hole" premade in the main beam. To me it seems like a lot more work involved than necessary but....

I love 2 screws in the temp block and only one in the actual piece

No it makes no sense

The small part ends up with crossing screws without screwing them in at weird angles, which would make it a lot stronger over time compared to having the screws aligned on a single axis. And it's using the cutoff material you wouldn't use probably anywhere else anyways. Low effort, but added gain.

It doesn't work that easy. Marking the angle a 2x4s width away from the post with create the wrong angle and a board that's too short unless the whole board is moved in towards the post. WHY DONT THEY SHOW THAT ?

Angle??? When you cut a 2 by 4 with a chop saw the cuts have opposite angles. 180 degrees apart. Flip one piece 180 degrees same angle. Ooohhhh magic

​@@g63amg35 Хоспади... Они ломкие,только на разрыв держат и то не факт. Головка шурупа сворачивается от шуруповёрта. Для этого их и красят в чёрный цвет чтобы не перепутать.
