Depending on what you're actually building, sometimes if it's not load-bearing or overly important, if it's just something you're throwing together like a birdhouse or something simple, then you're not gonna care about choosing just the right screws or the most perfect wood. You're just gonna throw it together with whatever materials you have laying around, maybe even with recycled/repurposed stuff. My dad used to do that all the time, take some scrap wood and make stuff like a bird feeder, or a purpose built shelf for something specific or something of the sort. He'd use whatever was laying around in the shop. But when it came to furniture, he would make absolutely beautiful furniture that would easily fetch hundreds of dollars if sold, using the finest materials and the most clean construction.

@Joe_L_D 4 месяца назад
I agree. You never know exactly how long something will be used, or when someone might lean against it (which always happens), so you might as well get the right fasteners. Plus, you’ll have the right fasteners for the next couple projects, it’s rarely a single project buy.
@Dhalin
@Dhalin 4 месяца назад
@@Joe_L_D again, that's assuming the wood used in the video is actually anything more than just a demo that he is gonna take apart as soon as he's done recording. I mean, look at that piece of wood up against the bricks, it has empty screw holes, likely from other demonstration videos.
