Your videos have helped me with my MSM! Thanks! Good point about keeping the laser warm! I actually heard that when these green laser pointers get cold the green fades but the IR pump laser output is still there.. especially in many units which have bad IR filter. Folks look into the laser and don’t see green but can damage eyes with IR light. 🎉

Thanks Geoffrey. I agree it's not a good idea to look into the laser even if you can't see it. It's a bit like looking down a loaded barrel . Cheers Glen

Glen, thanks for these videos! I have a msm and always worried about putting too much torque when the camera is on the side. I think I am starting to realize that you can shoot your objects fine with the camera sitting over top of the msm box for several hours, and then when finding a new target just rotate the camera back to the top - keeping the camera always over the msm and not rotating down the sides.

Thanks for the vid Glen. Could share the exposure details for your Orion shot? Thanks :)

Looking at the picture info it was a total of 600 seconds with a 300mm lens at f8. Each exposure would have been about 15 seconds so that would have been a total of 40 subs at 800 ISO. Stacked in DSS and edited in Photoshop.

I placed my dovetail on the bottom (portrait angle) not on the flat side. Does that matter? I'm using tripod+Z plate+quick release dovetail+arca type dovetail plate attached to bottom of MSM+ball head

Not at all. You can use either. I certainly use it this way if I'm using the phone holder. Have you seen this video where I use it in several configurations? - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UBRj2jde7fg.html
