First, this doesn’t seem like a useful tool unless you have a go Kart which happens to have a spindle with the same size threads as the tool. Could it attach to a hub with the dust cover knocked off? And when you turned the wheel 15 degrees, how did you know? When you are trying to demonstrate a product, ostensibly to sell it, it is important to put yourself in the shoes of a user who knows nothing about the tool, and explain every detail that someone might have, without leaving things you might take for granted out of the equation. Please. I’m glad I watched this or I would have wasted money buying one. I’ll buy one in a heartbeat if it can be used on any type of automotive hub. Ideally, there should be a three legged spider like adapter so that it could mount on ANY rotor, and some kind of pin that can be let out of the center of the back of the tool to assure it is centered on the hub or spindle.
In the amount of time it took you to type out this comment you could.have checked their website and seen that it is offered in a magnetic base as well and then when they are in stock, the have a wide 5 adapter as well ypu can use.
Your right, along with showing the threaded adapter he should also have shown the magnet (give magnet outer and inner diameter) and if it has a hole in the center and if yes give the center hole diameter.) You would have to use "alighnment turnplates" with at least 20 degrees sweep on each side- he should have showed that. Also, you can't do it the way he did, the spring has to be installed and the tire installed sitting on the ground naturally- and jack back up and remove tire to for adjustments on most applications. If using new springs, you should re-check after the springs settle in, maybe six months or so, depending on how much and how hard you drive it?? The digital guage is nice, you can't spend the time getting a "perfect alighnment" with a bubble gauge. The good thing about the bubble gauge is that it is always calibrated, Longacre says nothing about how often to check/re-calibrate it and if they offer those services which could be a deal breaker- same with digital torque wrenches. You can kinda check the digital against a bubble gauge for zero, but it could read zero and have the linear range off.
Also, keep in mind that he doesn't give a part number for the gauge (58-78292) nor the other parts numbers depending on adapter (yes, they do have a universal wheel adapter,) or price range (253-258 as of 04/2024.) My guess is that he didn't mention or show turn plates because Longacre, for some crazy backwards reason, does not offer such product. If you want to avoid spending a grand and want something decent for occaisional use I have had sucess with PMD Products 1850 (130.00) turnplates. Heads up- Longacre has a problem keeping stuff in stock.
He shouldn't have to, but you are correct that the whole purpose of the video is to lead the viewer to the website and ultimately to call sales as the descriptions lack a lot of information such as "What is the +/1 % of error for the digital version" which is something premium digital tool/scale manufacturers normally state, not to say their tool isn't accurate, but until they post that, along with if they offer a check/re-calibrate service entertain all options...
