I used a flip phone for a week

I've had a flip phone for a little while now but I really wanted to see what it would be like to just use it for a week in the modern world we live in. watch to see my day to day life with the pros and cons of using it as well as how I am implementing it in my life now!

thank you so much for watching (it really means a lot)

I ran three businesses utilizing a flip phone from 2009 to 2018 and only bought a smart phone in 2019 right before the pandemic. My employees ridiculed me for having an outdated piece of technology but the really enjoyed Paydays when they would text my flip phone after I paid them extra for for their hard work!!!

Its the apps we are addicted to. I did the same. I took my sim card and put it in a keypad phone which had only texting and calling and a music player. No camera or internet. Deleted social media. And when i want to take pictures i use my smart phone which basically at this point is just a camera for me. It really helped. I feel happier now ❤❤❤❤

The experience i had is not exactly getting a dumbphone but having my phone becoming one. It was a month when i didn't pay my phone bill and the telcos decided to suspend my data plan. So even though i had my smartphone, none of the apps could work without a wifi connection. So unless i connected to a public wifi or work wifi, i was pretty much off the grid and i have to admit, looking back, it was liberating AF. No calls, no messages, no picking up my phone just to look at an app. It was freeing to the point that i could focus on my book / kindle when i'm on the subway ride home. Right now i'm thinking of buying a flip phone and just doing a detox for a few months.

I have a buddy that develops video games for EA Sports and he was telling me almost all of their new hires out of university opt for a flip phone over smart phone.

I was addicted to using my phone, so I didn't replace it with a flip phone, but I did try to use every single analog substitute that I can find. So far it just means basically every phone thing strictly on my PC, and a dedicated camera for photography.

Girl, the silence!!! I made the switch a while back, and when I go for walks or drive to work or back sometimes I just want to be in my own thoughts. This whole tech boom was fun cause it was "new" back in in the last 30-20 years, but i can do with out it. I miss having a house phone and getting a call. The one good thing about tech is texting, back in the day we had to leave a message on the answering machine, so leaving a text now "hey call me back when you get this is cool" but then it made us feel obligated to reply back right away. I don't even anymore, Ill get to you when I get to you.

Seriously been considering doing this, I've been doing my best to keep away from social media for the past 2 years and I've been wanting to fully distance myself from distractions entirely so I can be more productive and focus more time on myself alongside my hobbies. Thanks for the video, it was very well made and I enjoyed it a lot ^^

@ModelA
I used a flip phone (Motorola V3xx) exclusively until just recently when the wireless carriers discontinued the 3G service and forced me into a new smartphone. I miss how I could go a whole week on one battery charge. I miss the clear audio quality. Most of all, I miss the small size and ease of pocket carry. But I have to admit, this GPS navigation stuff is awesome.
