Using a Guitar Pedal with a Keyboard: Vox V845 Wah Pedal 

Using guitar effects with a keyboard is actually a really good idea. One of the reasons that Gary Numan had such a distinctive keyboard sound in the late 70's and early 80's was because he ran his synths through things like distortion pedals and other gear made for guitars and it gave the keyboard a level of expression not usually achievable. Modern synths have things like mod wheels and after touch but back then most of them were not even velocity sensitive. You could tweak knobs on analog synths during live play but you could get so many more different sounds, timbre's and textures with an external effects chain.

Very good idea Chuck. I would like to see how you used the microphone modulator with the keyboard.

For "Wont Get Fooled Again", I also recommend a sharp tremolo cutoff instead of playing the rhythm. There's also a way you can run a keyboard through a few different synthesizers that could do both an envelope filter and tremolo type effect

Nice. I've just this moment ordered a -25db mic attenuator lead so I can mess about my guitar pedals with my yamaha keyboard. Also it will be useful for running my guitar amp into my tascam recording studio I would have thought, though I will read up on that first to make sure it can be done without endangering the recording studio

Chuck thanks for your informative videos! I'm very interested in finding out more about microphone attenuators that you mentioned. I agree with you that the price of re-amp devices is way too expensive. I use a lot of Electro Harmonix pedals with my gear and I love their sound.... But I feel that there's a slight mismatch in impedance between my keyboard and the pedals. Peace

I would also suggest the boss vo1 vocoder pedal. It cost about $250, but it's worth every cent

I wanted to run a super cheap beginner keyboard into a pedal to add some level of expression to it. I am using a yamaha keyboard that cost around 50 bucks. Basically I am about to find out how far I can take it by adding all kinds of missing stuff through pedals etc :)

My keyboard has a 3.5 mm output. I'm thinking about getting a vocoder pedal, so I'm getting a 3.5 to 1/4 inch cable, will it work? Will the signal be too hot?

Nice work on Won't get Fooled Again.I am wondering about getting distortion on a organ preset to get Deep Purple Jon Lord Space Trucking type of sound, or Keith Emerson, or Lee Michaels heavier organ sound especially on his Live CD, so in other words any Distortion Pedals or overdrive that would help?

Can I use a regular Expression pedal for a guitar with a keyboard instead of buying the Expression pedal for say a Roland FA-08 workstation.
