NOTE... THIS IS NOT A "HOW TOO" INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO.
If you don't understand SMPS, do not poke around in one. There is a high voltage risk.
This is a video showcasing my modified HP server power supplies for ham radio transceiver use.
This is part one, modify and RX noise (or lack of it...
Part 2 TX test follows.

Please note! This method of using resistors works on HSTNS-PR28 (460W blue label mine is made in 2013 so almost 10 yes old) as well I struggled so much finding the method to turn the power supply on but unfortunately failed. Tried this method and it worked as a treat. Great work thank you

Do you know how to change voltage on this modal

I run my wireless set 19 one a 60A supply and will run the matching high power amplifier on another 60A supply because they are cheep but I got mine for free and like you said they are pretty quiet. I’ve found them to be robust enough to take the high current peaks of the two dynamotors when they spin up. One thing I managed to do was get the sockets for the edge connector so I’ve not had to solder onto the supply which makes it easier to replace when one fails.

Great info. You have some info about hp hstns-pl28 to increase 13.8 volts without triggering OVP.

This individual does not sound like a amateur to me. Sounds like he knows what he speaking about. Amateur radio does not to me sound like a good name for it. Especially if you need a license for it.

Like a lot of hams, I'm both self taught and trained as an engineer over 40 years ago. However, I'm not a SMPS engineer, just an enquiring enthusiast. I have however, built a few SMPS using the TL-494 PWM chip. It's a good way to learn the theory...

@@poseypapusdiazfamily4630 To change the output voltage, it's an internal resistor swap.I've not tried it.

Crap that trick not works for me;-/ I'm wondering why. I have two PSU, and both are the same...

Done this and works a treat, however I’m finding I’m getting slight electric shocks from me Radios coax when there connected to this supply, any thoughts why???

Fault with the power supply would be my first thought. Or you have RF on it coming back on the negative rail. Try a ferrite on the DC wires to the rig.

You need to isolate the body of your PCU from the board and the chassis Teflon washers or Teflon screws to connect the board back to the the body @@m0jcfhamradio75

Hi, do you know if these PSU can work behind an intetractive UPS simulted sine wave??

Do you think this would work on a PL30 as well? 110 volt model.

I've never tried, but if the pins look the same, most likely will.
