Agree with your assessment of how to use a pre-amp as an always-on tone enhancer. My BBE Sonic Stomp is always on, at the front of the chain, and just adds more dimension to everything I play. I don't know if it is a true preamp by definition, but it sure makes a difference to the tone.
I use a TC Electronics mojo mojo OD pedal on a low gain setting. It has treble and bass as well as two voicings. It does it for me with the level set to give me a 3 dB boost over unity gain. Sounds great.
Hello mark, can I ask you a question? I want to use a tube mic preamp to improve the sound of the Dan electro Honeytone mini amps for a project. I've replaced the crappy speaker with a NOS 3 1/2" 5 watt movie theater speaker. Question: Will pumping a tube mic preamp through a mini practice guitar amplifier damage a tiny speaker? THANKS
Would a pre amp pedal help me add an extra channel to my Peavey VTM? Mine has only one channel and I can't find info anywhere...Plus I cannot afford a 6505 head at the moment. Does anybody know if it's possible to use a preamp pedal in order to create a second channel and be able to alternate between distortion and clean sound?
Great video. Quick Q: can I connect a pre amp unit and a guitar effect rack all together in the same amp/box ? Cause I have a Line Six Hd Pro rack, and I’d like to have a separate pre amp like a JMP1 and be able to use everything in the same amp/box
Sir nice video! I have a jackson audio prism i usually put it like this: Tuner, wah, prism, vemuram fuzz, compressor, ktr, jan ray,TSv808,hxstomp,h9 max and a looper.. I just want to hear your suggestion thank you
Is there a pedal you might recommend that might act like a Swiss army knife tool for me on my board to achieve better level & tone for the many options of guitars to plug in at my studio? I make tracks with many different guitars with many different pickups. something that has a boost /buffer /EQ etc? Thanks!
I just bought a Flamma fs06 Preamp pedal and was concerned because EVERY video I watched about preamp pedals all said it should go into an FX loop and SHOULDN'T be used in front of an amp because the amp already has a preamp section. After watching your video, I think Iunderstand more clearly. So, even using a gain channel, the preamp pedal won't destroy my tone? This pedal even has switchable cab simulation. I don't mind because I also do home recording with amp sims and wanted something a little more "physical" in my recordings.
Wondering how this worked out for you. I have the FS06, too, and love recording direct-in with it. I’d love to run it into the front of an amp this weekend and am frantically googling if I can.
Dude, relax a little....You look a little uncomfortable in front of the cam..Other than that good explanation. Bonus for the Strat, cool strap (that looks similar to a Native Sons strap), and for using the SDD-3000 pedal...
