My dad was born in a small rural village in the mountains of central Peloponnese, Greece, in his home. His grandmother delivered him. His grandmother was the midwife for all of the women in the villages in the area. She had no formal education. I wish I could go back and talk to her. That would be some awesome great grandmother wisdom right there.

I'm so excited to hear about this!!! I had a carnivore-ish pregnancy. I had a healthy easy pregnancy in general. I didn't get ANY stretch marks (probably all the collagen I was eating) even though I gained 65lbs (definitely all the non- carnivore foods I ate plus, I started out really skinny and I had some fluid retention going on at the end). I went to 42 weeks pregnant, placenta did great. And then I had the baby in 5 hours at home with zero tearing, great recovery. And my baby is super healthy, he had visible muscle tone from birth and he's still extremely strong, very smart, and his disposition is great as well. Totally recommend carnivore/animal based pregnancy.

I also ate my placenta. I just had my midwife chop it up and stick it in the freezer and I put chunks of it in smoothies. I could tell a very subtle energy lift, but it wasn't that significant for me and I think it's because I eat organs and have a nutritionally complete diet already.

It breaks my heart to see unhappy babies and moody toddlers and i swear it's just because of their modern diet, high in seed oils, grains and sugars is making them grouchy. You see siberian babies on ray mears in tribes and they never cry, maybe it's their diet and being outdoors all the time?
@missloretta

@@joemckinley I think it definitely makes a difference. But now that he's a little older and officially a toddler, he is a bit whiny sometimes so I think all babies cry from time to time.

I adored this episode. As a mom of 6 kids and a past doula and childbirth educator, it is so wonderful to hear all of this come out into the mainstream. I was thrilled to hear you guys speak on the dangers of contraception, as well. You might consider looking into the connection between hormonal contraceptives and breast cancer (there’s a similar link with abortion, actually, too). Traditional Catholics have been using natural means to space babies for millennia (when posed with serious reasons to do so), so there are many resources for learning about cycles in the Natural Family Planning circles. There is also an amazing clinic for infertility - the Pope Paul VI Institute and Dr. Hilgers. They focus a lot on nutrition and correcting root causes, as well as helping women understand their cycles through the Creighton Model.

Post partum is eased AGAIN by food! You lost unbelieveable amounts of energy aka nutrients, so replenish them! So the right foods for the growth of your baby aply to you further after birth. The same with breastfeeding! Breastfeeding is vital for the baby AND you! To put your organs back into place after birth, due to contractions during breastfeeding. Read LA LECHE LEAGE about breastfeeding. It is drinking/eating and immunity. A thick book. The older versions are very good! I know a Peruan woman who breastfed her children for years. After they got teeth, it was food also, but the kids still came ones in a while to hang on her breast. The mom ate very well to keep her health and teeth! Never vaccinated. Never sick. Sleeping with your baby!

Would love to listen to a podcast between you and Lily Nichols. Her book, Real Food for Pregnancy, is how I knew about folic acid not being the right form of folate and that adding liver into a pre/during/post pregnancy diet was ideal back when I was doing keto during my first pregnancy. It would be interesting to see where the common ground is on the subject of animal based between the two of you.

So happy to hear you talk about this! I conceived our four children while following Weston A. Price principles, and they are all vibrant and healthy, but I wish I had known more about the carnivore/animal based way of eating back then. I'm slowing transitioning our family to more of this way of eating, and am exited to see if there are any major differences with my (hopefully) next pregnancy. I love the conversation about natural childbirth and post partum health as well. Thank you for including this conversation in all of the wealth of information you share!

I grew up vegetarian and have been eating vegetarian most of my life. My husband didn’t have any non-vegetarian people in his family for centuries. I have eaten meat once in a while but I stopped craving it completely while I was pregnant. I gave birth to a healthy, good size baby in a beautiful natural birth process. My placenta looked more like the carnivore placenta in the Nourished documentary. I have seen quite a few cases of placental abruption - all were meat eaters. I think it’s not about whether you are a carnivore, a vegetarian or a vegan - all diets can be healthy if done well. The main problem is that most people don’t know how to be vegan or vegetarian in a way that you consume nutrient dense foods.

I'm gonna beat this drum again, Paul: Regenerative Organic (read biodynamically raised in environments and with practices that are without corruption) meats and raw foods are without risk. This is dependent, of course, upon basic common sense butchering and storage practices. But if you're eating conventionally produced meat and eggs raw you are absolutely at risk. Conventional eggs are a danger because large numbers of chickens raised in confined spaces (this happens with usda organic standard eggs also, source your food wisely) produce a measure of ammonia from their waste significant enough to burns lesions into their lungs which invites infection into their meat and eggs. That's the source of salmonella. Eating the wrong meat also opens you up to food poisoning. It is highly abnormal for grass fed ruminant herbivores to pass harmful bacteria to humans because our acidic digestive environment kills whatever bacteria survived the neutral ph of the animal's digestive system. When you feed grain all bets are off because you've then created a very acidic environment in that animal. This is why swine are prohibited in dietary laws regarding clean and unclean animals, which are entirely biologically sound. Swine have an acidic digestive tract and therefore the bacteria and parasites that survive it are highly transmissible to humans who have a similarly supportive digestive tract. Why aren't we eating raw pork? Because it's biologically unsafe. Eating raw regenerative organic grass fed pasture raised ruminant meat, dairy and eggs (read: *beyond* usda organic standards, according to the nature of the animal and the human) is virtually without risk. ROA all the way, every day, Paul.
@steakovercake3986
@steakovercake3986 2 года назад
Ive eaten non organic eggs raw and non grassfed butcher liver with no issues before. Even raw steak that was grain finished (also butcher bought)
@law_wren
@law_wren 2 года назад
So the juxtaposition here is of "at risk" and "virtually no risk". I'm arguing that the cases of food borne illness from consuming undercooked or uncooked conventional meat dairy and eggs are almost entirely a result of the biology of the animal and the production practices. If we had a control for exclusively regenerative organic diets high in raw biologically appropriate food consumption I posit that we would see zero instances of food poisoning when appropriate butchery and storage are in place. We have an enormous number of yearly instances of food poisoning when consuming conventional products. Your own experience notwithstanding, the exception doesn't disprove the rule.
@ChrisEAdlay
@ChrisEAdlay 2 года назад
That was a good read. I don't know of any organic meat farmers here where I live, might be a hole in the market
@joerandom157
@joerandom157 2 года назад
don't forget that a lot of the problems with food borne illness also comes from a gut dysbiosis problem. If you have a strong intestinal wall, and you should if you avoid Linoleic Acid since the intensine membrane's structure turns over very quickly, and would be ideally very saturated, which would prevent the overtaxing of the immune system.

These supplements are awesome complementing animal based+fruit! I use whole package and grass fed protein. This protein by far is the best out there you can feel the difference and I always have it with raw milk and 4 raw pasture raised and finished organic eggs ❤️🤟 rock on Paul! Keep it going until at least we get real government guideline changes for nutrition. This movement has done a lot of push and the more people that unite and feel the difference the easier it will be to beat big pharma and convert the population.
