My full Brother and I share just under 57% of our DNA, but I am pretty sure after watching this that I share much with my Paternal Grandfather, because he and I shared two specific inherited traits, heterochromic eyes and piloindal cysts, both of which aren't very common. He was also my most loved relative and my best friend, we had a bond from the moment I was born. I was his oldest Grandchild and his disappointment that I wasn't a boy only lasted about a nanosecond. Miss him dearly.
My parents are 1st cousins once removed. Mom's father and dad's grandmother are siblings. My tree is a wreath and I'm connected many ways to various DNA matches, some of them up to 5 or 6 different ways. I am French Canadian. I have several brick walls that are frustrating. I've been researching for about 20 years and I manage 8 different DNA kits.
One thing I don`t understand. Father gives to me Y dna only right? so how come we only pass 25% of our fathers DNA to another son if we give to our son Ydna again.
Very helpful presentation. We are searching for my mom's great great grandfather prior to emancipation. Her dna is 15% Irish. How do we use that to break through a brick wall?
