Hi Marc, I have a small boat and have tried NFN's Spring Clip dipsey (that NFN credits to Scrapper John, Troy, and I think, SteveO) with good results. I don't tie a knot in my line like NFN but use a small, separate, mono loop through one of my micro swivel eyes. So far, it's worked decent within my small boat space constraints that might not affect larger boats.

Very informative. Sat through the vid then bought some some gear and slide divers from you to try on my kayak. Just like you stated with long dipsy leads from a fixed diver it is very hard to land a king with 1 hand.

Great to meet you at the Bassmasters Show today, I can't wait for the Boat to come out of Hibernation to try these new rigs out! Thanks again for your tips and tricks!

great stuff nice trick with the drop weight i think speed also plays a role in the final diver depth. my feeling is there is sorta a sweet spot like 1.9 to 2.5 under the go way deeper over they tend to ride up you get that from your probe?

Would it work to just put a snap weight on the line rather than drilling and attaching to the diver? Not sure if it matters that the weight isn’t positioned on the side of the diver.
@KingsLandingSportFishing
@KingsLandingSportFishing Год назад
Not sure… I use 7 strand wire which you’d never clip a weight to as it would weaken the line.

@@KingsLandingSportFishing I’ve often clipped a torpedo cuda to torpedo wire using those red clips which I think have some padding in the grips. Gets the line down deep and I didn’t experience any damage to the wire. I might have to give it a try with a diver.

@@AndyMunden - 19 strand, 7 strand or weighted steel? I do it with WS often
@AndyMunden
@AndyMunden Год назад
I have one rod with 19 strand and one with 7 strand. To be honest I couldn’t swear which I have done it with but possibly both. I only have a 16 ft tiller boat so this kind of technique is good for me. Unfortunately I don’t have anything fancy to measure the depth but for sure I’ve had the cudas near the bottom by dropping them until they hit the bottom, waiting as I troll forward and then dropping until they hit bottom again. I believe this has them running not far above bottom. Caught some decent kings that way when the hot bite dies. I also have some of the torpedo divers which already have the facility to clip on a cuda but would like to use a slide diver as I struggle to land fish solo with a long lead. Hence the interest in just putting a snap weight on the line. Great videos by the way. Keep them coming!

@@AndyMunden - I think the 19 strand would hold up better vs 7 strand. I wouldn’t risk clipping anything to my 7 strand wire.

Any issues with long divers getting into your deep coppers, or weighted steel?
@KingsLandingSportFishing
@KingsLandingSportFishing Год назад
No .. lots of separation between them as the dive rates are different

Hi Marc, When you weight your divers to get them deeper do they lose their ability to pull horizontally and end up too close to your down riggers?
@KingsLandingSportFishing
@KingsLandingSportFishing Год назад
No issues at all Scott. You just have to make sure you put the weight on the right side so planes in the correct direction. The weight should be on the same side as you have the standard weight dialed on

Hello Mark, kinda unrelated but could you give me some suggestions on running your hot fish sonic boom , fly, meat rig? Had trouble getting it hit last season . Absolutely love it but I had to give it a timeout and put him in the corner! Any help would be appreciated

Meat rig, 7-8 foot lead with Twinkies should be the ticket. That paddle can typically work all day as there is glow pigment in the blade as well.. Typically, if people struggle with a Hotfish Flashers, they are often running a lead that is too short from my experience.
