Hi Todd: Thanks for this informative video. I have used Excel as a data source for Powerapps, and it's very cool. But there isn't a way to determine the source _workbook_ for an existing Powerapps data connection. Is there?

Hey @Todd Baginski Very good tutorial. I have one question. When I tried to download the leave request powerapp then it didn't had much code as shown by you on Submit Request button. Did you add that code yourself or is there any problem with my PowerApp. Appreciate if you could upload your version somewhere for reference for people like me.

Just talked to the Microsoft team. A fix is rolling out for the Leave Requests app, but in the meantime you can make it work if you follow this process. I just tried it and it worked fine. docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/canvas-apps/get-started-test-drive

Hi Todd, thanks for great video. Could you explain the difference between a datasource such as excel datasource and a collection?

A collection is a set of rows and columns of data that is used inside PowerApps. A data source is a place that holds data. You connect to data sources to pull the data back and then put it into collections inside PowerApps to work with it.

@@ToddBaginski Hi Todd. Is there an older template still available for download that works with the excel sheet already. The one I use simply uses collections. Therefore nothing gets stored and pulled from the excel file. For someone green in power apps it's hard to figure out how to grab the info from excel and place it into these collections as needed for use within the app.

I think that is only possible from OneDrive at this time but you should double check to be sure.

Yes, use the Office 365 Outlook connector.

Hi Todd, I've got an Excel spreadsheet which has a column of weblinks. But when I've connected via Powerapps, the URLs aren't live, they are just text and can't be clicked and don't link.

Try using a control in the power app to take the url value and make it into a hyperlink.

I can connect and retrieve data from OneDrive Excel to PowerApps. But when I changed data in PowerApps, data in Excel did not change. Can we update data from PowerApps to Excel?

Yes, you can. Make sure the user who is running the Power App has the permissions to update the Excel file.

Hi Todd, I enjoy the video but my version of power apps doesn't have the Make my own app button, thus I am struggling to create the leave request app, do you know of a fix for this?

Unfortunately, the provision of the app is broken. I contacted the Microsoft team to let them know about it so hopefully it gets fixed soon.

Great Video, I have one query, I have Excel stored in Department Sharepoint and I wanna use it to create Powerapps, so that all information can be easily visible to everyone who have access to Sharepoint whenever they update details in PowerApps. Right now I created an App using Excel stored in One Drive for Business. In this case if someone want to use this app then i have to give them write access to the file and folder stored in my One drive for Business.

I see it now. Yes, if someone wants to use the app then you have to give them read/write access to the file in your Onedrive for Business.

Thanks but actually I was talking about SharePoint.. OneDrive for Business access is already possible. Do you know any work around for SharePoint please?

At this time it is not possible to store the Excel file in SharePoint. You may want to try adding this suggestion in the PowerApps UserVoice to see if the team will implement it in the future.

Creating the new PowerApp from the Leave Request template does NOT create the Excel file, nor are there data sources for the different Excel worksheets. There is no Make my own app button.
