Welcome to my sewing room and the first episode of the Wheel of Fate for 2024. This time I am sewing up those cosy fabrics before the Spring comes! I am challenging myself to only use patterns from my collection that I have never used before, Indie patterns, Lutterloh and the Big 4.
If this is the first time you have watched one of these Fabric Wheel videos, please have a look at the round up of 6 projects I managed to make using Stash fabrics (that I didn't like) last Autumn! I had great success with almost all of them.

I do hope you enjoy this series and maybe play along at home.

I am so glad the fabric wheel of fate is back, I love it. I can really see this fabric as a Hoodie, I think it will go so nicely with jeans and could be something you can wear all year round. I look forward to seeing what you choose 😊🧵💕🪡

Thanks so much for watching and your comment. People all seem to be very keen on the Southbank which makes me really think, am I missing out on something?! You are certainly right on the colour being good with jeans though. Watch this space! 😊🧵

Can't wait to see your make. I think I was the one who mentioned the dice. I place a number on each of the 6 fabrics and roll the dice. After watching this video I am now going to assign a pattern company to a number also. That way when I roll I have to use that fabric and that number pattern company. Thanks for the idea.

Love, love, love the fabric Wheel of Fate, Miss Carole! I don't have a fabric stash, but I love the idea so much that I'm going to start using the wheel with housework chores, what to make for dinner, and what to wear. No more time wasting pondering. Easy peasy Florida breezy! Love your channel, darlin'.

Thank you and that did make me laugh because, the wheel first came into use many years ago with my children. After dinner they would spin it to determine whether they washed up, cleared the plates etc 🤣 I do think if you decided to run your life by a wheel, you need more than 6 segments 🤣🤣 Thanks for making me smile 🧵😊

@@socarole66I haven’t made the dress. I’ve made the sweaters, and then hacked the pattern into a tunic length I can wear with leggings. A bit of fun, the idea of randomizing what we make. I’ve got a beautiful collection of precious fabrics, and this year kinda thought (as far as a I get with new year resolutions) ‘use the good stuff’. Some of it is vintage. Maybe I’ll come up with something similar for my own use. Not entirely sure when I thought I’d use some of this stuff. Fun, Carol, thanks!
@socarole66
@socarole66 7 месяцев назад
Gosh, I can fully understand you holding back sewing the 'good' and vintage fabrics. This is kind of why I always end up with lots of fabric I bypass for that 'perfect match' pattern! Thanks so much for your kind comment 😊🧵

Yes, Robin is correct, the yellow leaf is a gingko, a lovely tree that has survived from prehistoric times. I love the Wheel of Fate and plan to use it in the future. I think your fabric is pretty distinctive and could easily match with a pattern that is not run-of-the-mill. Love your videos.

What a great idea to challenge you to make new patterns. I have been trying to do that this past summer and fall and I have really enjoyed finding new patterns that I like. Now I am getting braver and starting to do some mash ups. We will see how that goes. Today is the first day of sewing class with my five year old granddaughter. I cut out some pajama pants for her to sew up. They have unicorns on them so I know she will be happy about that. Right now she is still leery of the needle so she likes press the pedal and play red light, green light while I guide the fabric. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks so much for the suggestion. The only trouble with having patterns on the wheel is that not all would actually suit all of the fabrics I have. Also I have various amounts of fabric so may not have enough or too much and end up with fabric left over 😫. It could get tricky swapping the patterns in and out. As you can tell, I have gone for the easier option! 😂

Hi Deb, yep the wheel is back! I have hesitated on the pink one, I do like it but it is a bit bright for me. As you say, a longer top or tunic with black tights would work best for it. I’m with you on reusing patterns but it was getting silly with that type of fabric , my wardrobe was getting too samey!! Have a good week 🧵😊😘

The Fickle Fabric Wheel of Fate! But it's not really fickle. Love it!

That fabric was my 1st choice when you showed the choices, Carole. The tonal colors will look great on you, whatever you decide to make. 😘

Thanks Lynn, I have to say that and the butterfly fabric were my favourites but I’m sure the others will turn out well….I hope! 🧵😊

@@socarole66 I know they’ll turn out well. You seem to make most everything work out, even if there are challenges along the way!😊

Southbank sweater dress, Southbank sweater dress, Southbank sweater dress..... there that's 3 votes from me lol. I agree with Izzy, try the new pattern and make it an indie one. Now you love the toaster sweater and your patina, surely your mind is being changed? xx

🤣🤣🤣🤣 somehow I knew you would say that! I may well give it a go but with over 1000 Big 4 patterns I will never stray from my roots and if I do, it won't be for long. Suppose though..... it was horrid on me!?! 🤔😱🧵xx

@@socarole66 never, I think it will be lovely and you will love it. Do you have any sweatshirt dresses? They are so comfortable!

I had thought of that and may explain in my next video why that may not work this time round. Believe me I had thought about it! Thanks for watching 😊🧵

I love the look of the Southbank Sweater dress. I have only seen the pattern available as a PDF. May I ask where you got the printed pattern? I love that pinky leaved fabric and am so anxious to see you make! Good luck.

Hi Theresa! So many people have made this dress I will definitely give it a go. I hate PDFs as you may know, I bought this pattern from Minerva when someone mentioned it to me a while ago. Thanks for watching 😊🧵
